Thread: Dodge for Fencers
Is dodge working correctly right now for fencers? Are you really sure?
The reason I ask is the I am 0-1-2-3 in fencer now. I actually get hit alot more now than I did before the patch. But here's the real rub... I'm also master pistoleer. My dodge value is +155 now. When I fence I see some spam that I evade blows, but not all that many. Now, when I pull out my pistol... dodge, dodge, dodge. It is a dramatic difference. I'd have thought that I'd actually dodge less as a pistoleer because more of the shots would be dismissed via other causes. I'd have thought that the dodge effectiveness would be similar for both professions.
Are there any master fencer / master pistoleers out there who can offer inisght as to whether dodge is equally effective between the two, and whether it is indeed effective for fencer now.
I'm worried that it is borked right now. Now, if it were only considering the dodge points I have from fencer itself, then I'd say it is working fine, but everyone swears that this is not the case. My understanding is that your dodge skills still stack and apply as one for both professions.

This could very well be the case. The combination, I'll admit (as I am one) is quite overpowered, and I'll get on in a bit and try it.
It's not working. They broke Fencer dogde. I have 0/0/4/0 in fencer and 4/3/4/4 in pistoleer. I equip a sword of any kind in fencer and I don't dodge at all but once I equip the pistol it's DODGE DODGE DODGE DODGE.
Fencer dodge is broken altogether.

I noticed that same thing with myself. As a fence with 0/3/1/2 and pistoleer 2/0/0/2 I dodge ALOT more with my pistol equiped than I do with my sword.
Frankly I don't care if they seperate these 2 dodges ... well I care but I won't be dropping either as I like both professions since fencer lets me get up close and personal and pistol lets me knock of the few mobs that decide they want to try and kite me.

i don't dodge very much, but i don't usually get hit. i've never touched a pistol so i don't know the difference. if we're not dodging, then something else is working for us, at least.

U don't get hit as often huh..if thats so they should'nt call it dodge they should call it evasion.... i really don't know tho i havent had time to test this out,im still at work.. plz let me know what you guys find out.... Im going try out some stuff when i get home in about 2 more hours...and ima test out dodge and this new ham system.....

The new HAM system was only on Test Center, and was retracted for adjustment. You won't be able to test that out right now.
You will notice some changes in your stats and abilties. Such as your Melee Defense went all the way up to around +74, Dodge went all the way to +105, and accuracy went up to +150.
You also have a new skill called Center of Being (CoB). You activate it much in the same way as you activate Berserk, and it consumes some HAM. What is does is enhance your already good ability to Dodge. Since the Dodge check comes after the Melee Defense check, it may not be worth while to use it if all the attacks are missing anyway. But if you are getting nailed, CoB can save your hide. It lasts for about 35 seconds at Master Fencer.
You also have Mitigation. It reduces the damage spread of a melee attack on you. At Master Fencer you get Mitigation3, which reduces the damage spread by 60%. IE: If you are attacked by a 100-200 weapon, it is reduced to a 100-140 weapon. This should let you tank better. It's a passive fense and doesn't require activation.
