hey guys

What do you reckon will be better in defending bases and going on raids and such, Master Commando/Master CH or Master Pistoleer/Smuggler (Dirty Fighting)/Master Fencer.

Thank you.

The word is as of the small patch they did today the Dodge mods no longer stack so if that is what you are looking for it is not worth it now.

See the pistoleer board for info on the Dodge nerf.

The CH combo will undoubtedly be better for PvE, while the Fencer one will rock in PvP. However, if what they say about the Dodge nerf is true, you should replace Pistoleer/Smuggler with some other ranged profession.

Whats so bad about Commandos I see heaps of them around, and what would be a better skill to have with Pistoleer/Smuggler?

Melee defense and ranged will still stack unless they change that too. And it's still always a good idea to attack the same HAM pool. All defenses aside, attacking two different pools is like killing your opponent twice. Being more accurate while moving, being able to shoot as you close the distance, KD with pistol whip, and switch to a fencer weapon would be pretty good.

You've probably seen plenty of commandos taking out an opponent in one shot with flame single 2. I actually tried commando for a long time-- shots like that are luck, and if you miss you're left hanging for a long time where you can't heal, attack with a different weapon, or do anything.

However, this is strictly from a one-on-one perspective, which I really don't think commando was intended for. If you fight with an organized team that will cover you while you close in for a flame cone, then commando has a place. Telling your buddies to heal you when you use flame cone is all the planning you need to make your team pretty effective-- yet a lot of people just don't do it.

If you'd like to try commando, Commando/pistoleer would be good-- you can be effective in many situations where you don't want to use a flamethrower. Pistoleer stacks well with the commando-only launcher pistol, which does blast damage. Using smuggler moves with the launcher also sounds effective.
