Thread: So in your opinion whats the best help a pikeman can give you in group combat?
I dueled a friend of mine who had to holo master Pikeman. First duel - I kd him and incap him in like two seconds. Second - I allow him to kd me first, watch as he misses four times in a row, get up and incap him in a few secs. Third time - I just stand, /peaced and watch as he tried to kill me for over two minutes, hitting me six times doing miniscule damage... I actually had to heal him twice so that he wouldn't kill himself by his HAM costs... a novice marksman could've put up more of a challenge.
The devs seriously need to fix the Pikeman class.
We pikeman/women/things will have our day. We are not as pathetic as we look to be, with a little more acc and defense mods we will be the new flavor of the month. The only other thing is our weapons need a revamp, which is coming soon.Butuntil that day we must makedo with what we have to work with. Any ways back to the topic, any thoughts to contribute?

Hey Valdo! Welcome to the Forum! ![]()
There are alot of things I hope will be incorporated into Pikeman for group benefits in the upcoming rebalance. (Check out a couple of my thoughts on your Wish List in the Pikeman forum.)
For right now, a Fencer and Pikeman can be a decent combination but there are some elements that cause problems. The biggest one is that Fencer specials primarily target Health, and Pikeman primarily target Action. So if both are using their pool-specific special attacks they are killing the target twice over.
To make the best of both you should flip a coin or something to decide who will use their targeted special, and who will refrain. If the Pikeman plans to use their Action-targeting hits or bleeds, then the Fencer needs to refrain from BodyHits and HealthHits, and either use Hits (which at least have a chance to hit the Action pool) or ScatterHits (which will probalbly hit the Action pool with at least partial damage. Another, largely unknown, benefit to ScatterHit is that it exploits weaknesses in armor since it is applied over a group of hit locations rather than just a single one.)
Since most of the normal hits are going to hit the Health pool, and if you run out of HAM to perform specials then you will have to rely on normal hits, it might be a better plan for the both of you to target Health. The Fencer should perform their HealthHits (Health bleeds) and stick to BodyHits (targets Health), and the Pikeman either stick to normal attacks, or Hits (which have a reasonalbe chance to hit Helath). That will be the best damage combination if you don't want your hits spread all over the place.
Or, if you are surrounded by multiple opponents, both pikeman and Fencer has pretty good AE attacks. If the two of you stick closely together and perform those Spin Attacks whole groups will drop fast.
As for special moves that go topgether well, combining the Pikeman AE Knockdown with the Fencer AE Dizzy is a nice opening move for large group of opponents. Then sit back and AE the lot into oblivion. ![]()
I sure many of the creative fencers on this forum can be of assistant to you in this area, by coming up with good combo tactics. Best of luck to you!
I am wondering as I have worked with tka's before and leaving the kd to me seems to work well as they can then spam there high damage attack. Of course it took us a while to realise that if we both hit it with a succesful kd the critter just gets back up. Pikeman pros in combat for those that dont know are good bleeds, we can draw agro like nobodys business with our area attacks, we can dish out status effects via our area attacks and kd with them, and finally we have goor armor piercingweapons.
Thanks for your imput,
