Thread: Debating on Fencer/TKA/Swordsman for my new profession..
If you want to do less damage, have worse damage types, and have next to 0 armor piercing, then please, by all means, choose fencer.
If you want to have devastating AE attacks, incredible damage to all pools including mind, then I suggest swordsman.

hahaha get out of noob ville. as both a master fencer and master 2 handed. tka 4 0 0 0 and master brawler. i can tell you i never use the powerhammer or any type of 2 handed sword. the 2ap is broken on the powerhammer they nerfed bleeds and they are waaaay too slow. and as for worse damage types i gotta say 1 thing. STUN. at less than 1 second a hit with 1hh3 any one with composite will fall extremely fast. buffs or not. the gaderiffi averages about 150 350 min max damage at kinetic but i prefer the stun in pvp because players drop very fast. i was master tk before this and i chose 1 handed above all else. poor tkm only got kinetic with 1ap and everybody is runnin around with 80% kinetic. sure 2 handed is awsome in pve i use it alot in it. but i would never use a powerhammer in pvp especially since bleed nerfs.and 1 handed i find is still more effective in pve even though the 2handed does more damage it is way too slow even at master. and with a speed slice its still not worth it. -why is it a powerhammer with 190 698 medium pierce does only 19 damage a hit in pvp against a tkm. hmmm melee damage mitigation 3 and uber melee defence- the devs must look at this

Sydusockiki it's very obvious you either 1) don't have that much experience with PvP, 2) only fight newbs, or 3) Haven't fought since the bleeding nerf.
While you are right about some things, you completely miss the mark on most. SPEED IS CAPPED at 1.0. What this means is that the difference between your0.2 speed stun baton (fictional i know) and my 5.4/710 power hammer is that you do a special every 1.0 seconds while I do headhit3 every 1.5 seconds. If you fight any *good* PVP'ers you need to expect them to carry around 2.5k buffs on all health and action stats, with at least 410 heal stimpacks. For example I am a master 2HS, master brawler, 0304 TKA and 4400 fencer, so if we were to duel yourlow damage stun baton would betrying to counter +160 melee defense, +110 counterattack, +70 defensive acuity (makes counterattack happen a LOT), and meelee mitigation 3. WORSE, you will be doing it to a pool that is easily healed by anybody who spent 15 points on novice medic. The sad fact here is that since the bleeding nerf most good Meelee PvPers can regen/heal faster than TKA, Fencer or Pikeman can hurt them. The difference with swordsman is that you do MIND damage. Sure, they will stack a couple +450 vasarian brandy.. but there is still a finite limit on the amount of mind they have. Since the bleeding nerf I have fought quite a few TKM/Master fencers in my PA and none of them have been able to do any real damage to me period. It's possible you are confusing the relatively ineffective stun damage on the stun baton with the extremely overpowered stun damage of the jawa ion rifle that Master Rifleman use to spam HeadShot3. What's the difference? Your stun baton is hitting a buffed stat that can be healed while each shot the Master Rifleman connects with is one shot closer towards ending the duel.

Meelee defense does NOT reduce damage, it merely increases the chance of a successful evade. That TKM has meelee mit 3which decreases damage to 40%(every other master elite brawling profession has this too of course) and he'll be wearing comp armor that probably has around 80% resists to blast damage. Guess what.. the swordsman has those exact damage reducers to kinetic and with a raw 2500-4000 dmg on my headhit3 I usually end up doing around 200 dmg or soa hit to master elite brawlers with80% comp helmets... i'm not sure where you pull 19 damage from.
I'm not saying that Swordsman is the world's best profession, I'm merely commenting on the difference in raw offense. Swordsman is far inferior in PvP right now to both Master CM and master Rifleman, and we are an even draw at best against pistol-BH. Furthermore Swordsmanhas little to no defenses other than it's excellent Counterattack. If you can only afford points for one melee tree, the issue of defenses should definitely be a consideration and fencer and TKM both have the best.
That being said, as a master 2HS who spends 80% of his time either dueling or PvP'ing vs. *good* opponents, I have yet to lose to a single TKM, Pikeman or Fencer after the bleed nerf patch. With the bleed nerf duels between masters are by no means quick, it took me around 5 minutes to mind incap a heavily buffed TKM/Fencer with musician buffs and stacked vasarian brandy. That being said I *did* incap him and at the end of the fight I still had full health and action with 80% mind or so... without a good mind attack he had no way of hurting me permanently, even with his stun baton.
This doesn't even mention how much Swordsman dominates in PvE..Most high level PvE Mobs in this game have very low blast resists. This includes Nightsisters, Rancors, Dark Jedi and a good swordsman can kill an enraged rancor in 4-5 seconds with a flurry of headhit3's. Furthermore Swordsmen are the only class I know which can solo nightsister elder's.. i wish any fencer who wanted to try to take one down with a gaderiffi or stun baton the best of luck.
