Thread: Publish 7 Questions

hey... was just wandering what changes in publish 7 will affect us (fencers that is)
and also when publish 7 will take effect?

Main effect for us has to be the capping on defences. We are probably the most defensive profession in the game which means that if an arbitary cap is put in place then we will have less to gain from stacking than other professions. Less defensive professions will be able to stack extra defences in from other professions to patch up their weaknesses, we wont have that option.


Of course, they could do the wise thing and base the caps depending on the weapon being used. I.e. A profession with 75 ranged defence at master would have a higher cap than a profession with 20 ranged defence at master. It would be nice to see some feedback from those that have had a chance to test out the new defence caps on TC, so we can actually see what direction they are heading in rather than getting hit with it by surprise.

so the main effect on us will be no more defence stacking? any ideas on what the cap will be on dodge/counter/block and melee/ranged defence will be?

I think you need to drop all your defense stacking crap now and adjust to not having it, its cheap, shoudlnt work like that, and eventully wont.


Just my 2 cents.


I am straight novice brawler, mstr fencer, no 2ndary professions(for defense, most med), and I do just fine

If you do so fine, then why are you calling defense stackers cheap? I'm not even a stacker and think this is kind of stupid. All the defense mods have weaknesses, you just need to know what they are.

The proper way to fix this would of been to fix the skill tree layouts for defense mods to the way they did it with ch. Instead of one tree giving 54/54 melee/range in fencer put 4 or 5 in every box. Something like that. This effectively makes pure stacking dabbling impossible and gives a bonus to people who are multiple masters.

If someone is a master fencer, master pistoleer then they deserve what they've earned. Same with a TKM, Rifleman (although rifleman will be a lot easier to hit after publish 7 anyway since they are fixing that bug).

Picking up stuff from other professions to supplement your skills isnt cheap, in fact by your own admission you have picked up brawler to supplement your Master Fencer skills. Personally, I choose to take 0-0-0-4 TKA and additional medic skills instead of master brawler to supplement my Master Fencer skills. My setup will change depending on where the cap is introduced.


My issue is that depending on how they implement the cap, we could be penalised more than the classes with low initial defences. This is very similar to the speed caping issue, this affects the professions with fast weapons (fencer, pistoleer) much more than those with slower weapons (twohanded, pikeman, rifleman). Unfortunately we are likely to be hit hardest by the defence capping as our defensive skills are the highest of all elite combat professions.

first off novice bralwer and 0-4-0-0 is required for fencer, im SORRY if i have to take that, but if you take the time to read my post, youll see i said NOV (Novice) Brawler.



Second of all, there is NO weakness to having, EXAMPLE, the Defense tree of TKm (Defense Vs dizzy/kd/posture) Tk also has no WEAKNESS in their defenses like with the secondaries (dodge/CA-Block) Their weakness is their damage type.



From what I know, the only thing they are going to do is tack bonuses only applying when their profession is being used, Ie you only get the Defense from TK if your using unarmed, pole when a polearm is equipted, etc.

Hey Vincent I think the person is refering to the fact that all defence's have weakness's. If somone has insane defences you can just intimidate them, stun works this way as well, also I hear rumors that you are more hittable when you are blinded as well. I think the problem is alot of people just don't know exactly what stuff in this game does


Me, I'm still learning. I just dropped my d stacking template. I've picked up Master Doctor and I am still a sucessful pvper, I just can't take down 8 people at once now, only 3 or 4
