Thread: Acklay Nerf, one OR the other...

It's been about a week from the big A's nerf and i would like to say this.... Change the spawn timer from ~20min to 2Hours, fine no biggie... Reduce the Dmg of the Bone that we loot, fine no bigge


DO THEM BOTH!?! sorry Dev's thats just cruel. With the Acklay dropping what 5 lootable items? It seems unfair that the first tease us with the chance to get such great loot and FINALLY have a decent powered weapon, when the Acklay was spawning 20 minutes it was still rare to find the bone as half the time it was killed it never dropped a damned thing. Now they take away the frequency that it can be dropped (only spawns 12 times a day) and the loot is random from None to some crappy padded armor segments.... I honestly don't know what the Dev's were thinking here.


On behalf of Fencers seeking better weapons I request this issue be brought to the Dev's by our correspondent, so c'mon Chaser, lets get this ball rolling.

Yeah, thats my point.... i'm talking about POST nerf here. I also have a weapon made Pre-Acklay-Nerf and I love it, i feel how the developers made the bone worthless and super hard to get is a shame.

Loot, spawn times, difficulty, and just about every other concept with the Geo cave (stun ranged attacks when 99.9% of the people in the game don't have any stun protection) was piss poor. Sony should be embarassed by the lack of testing they did on the spawn times and loot. They knew what the loot drops were and they would have known what the ramifications would have been when the overpowered loot made it into the game, if they even bothered looking into it before everything went live. I give the Geo caves and the dev teaman F for design (shooting through the walls, wee), loot (800-1000 damage a tick CM poisons & disease, good plan), fun (love getting hit with fanshot through walls and having no chance to resist it unless you get stun layered armor).

Shid....I'm kinda confused here...Do you expect to be some uber leet character that stands no chance of getting killed??? I'm glad there was a cave that was somewhat tough, until the cave was so full of PC's that nothing could spawn at all...I say increase the spawntime of the crazed Geonosians, and double the amount of them...That will make the caves nice and hard again....

In response to this thread Im gonna ask a simple question. Why dont you just go swordsman if you are looking for raw damage?


In all the replies of the future of fencer posts to deal with attack's and future design of fencer maybe 4-5 were asking for a damage increase, others were asking to fix DPS that is a big difference although it may not seem so.


we ( the community ) have some great ideas on how we think a fencer should operate, a 400 dmg stun baton does not fits well into the mold that the fencer proffesion is now, to put them on par with other proffesions, however fits no where into the mold that we are trying to make.

Not at all, I was just pointing out that the cave was poorly thought out and the fact that a) you can shoot/be shot through walls say's alot, and b) the loot drops were obviously never sent to the QA people before it went live or else they would have noticed that CM's would be able to make DoT's that did 800-1000 damage a tick. The difficulty isn't what the issue is right now for me, it's the half assed wall design of being able to be shot at the entrance by something that is around the second corner.

Fury_Chaser, it would be nice if we actually had half decent weapons that were more widely available. All this cave has done is trickle feed in some good fencer weapons at a rate of 1 or 2 per day on each server, this is a much lower rate than equivalent items for other classes. These things are selling for the price of Krayt pearls on my server and the number of master fencer is probably lower than the number of Jedi's.


I dont mind these Acklay enhanced stun batons/gaffis being the best weapons for fencers, but it would be nice to have something inbetween the standard stun batons/gaffis and these new weapons that was more available to those that cant spend 5mil a shot on a weapon.


On another note, all whines about fencers from now on will be based on these weapons, even though they arent widely available, just like pre-nerf T21s causing whines about riflemen.

agreed, my point was that they should have never been there in the first place, especially in a static spawn location. This is the biggest problem that the devs have made, best loot are gathered from static spawn locations. Which only allows super rich to achieve the better weapons, or a large group of friends to help someone out, let alone that it only puts a proffesion into more of a bland state by just makeing it the same, less the actual graphics of the toon

haha .. i dont care what they do .. i looted 12 bones with 278 min damage .. and have a stun baton with 328 min damage (unsliced). i absolutely destroy comp armor with stun protection or not ..oh yeah ..and im a wookie.


i would have to agree though with the times ... people camping the acklay was the only reason they had to do the timer thing. if people werent so greedy .. then maybe it wouldnt have come to this.

But they were there in the first place.... the way i view this is as an easy answer to the DPS issue. So if they are going to throw it in there don't drop both frequency and power, drop one or the other. Yes i love fencer and i will not go swordsman (/whap chaser for that suggestion) however standing by the sidelines and waiting for some issues to be addressed while everyone else gets all the Dev's TLC is frustrating (even Image Designer is getting more attention than us)


So if this this is a "shut them up" kind of resolution for any of our real issues then the power of the bone should be increased again. I suspect that alot of where the dropped the damage was because of the PowerHammers that were being made. You combine that with the Scythe and swordsmen are a scarry class. (mind you im' not comparing us to swordsmen, just stating this is where the damage reduction likely came from)


Perhaps we will get a core that can be put in the gaffi to make it do something other than kinetic dmg? i don't know i just think we kinda got screwed over all here.
