Thread: My composite is almost dead! Ubese an option?

Well, it figures that after two months of using my nice 71% Kinetic Composite to completely level Fencer from Novice to Master, and then going around the galaxy, fighting Rancors or dying on the Corvette, my Composite armor is low on condition. As it stands, my chest plate will be the first to crumble, followed by my helmet and then the rest of it. I could buy a replacement helmet and chestplate, but that would only delay the inevitable. Or I could shell out 500k for a new full suit of composite (let me think about it....um i don't want to do this lol).

Now, since I'm done my Profession grind for this Character, and all I do is either wander around killing stuff, hang with my friends and guildies, or take part in mild PVP, would Ubese be a good alternative for me?

I'm only asking because I can find good kinetic Ubese at a cheaper price than buying a new and bank breaking comp armor.

Would Ubese be good enough for my needs? I do some difficult Solo missions as well for much needed creds, would a good ubese suit help me survive as good as my comp does?

Check my sig, I can pretty much hold my own, I just need some advice.

Also, what % of kinetic should i look for in Ubese?

Thanks

If you are resigned to seeing your composite crumble, then fix it! You can use a repair kit yourself. You risk alot, but if you don't need to rebuy a piece, then great! On the other hand, you can try to find an armorsmith to fix it for you. They have a much lower chance of having your armor go poof.

I find that the ubese works pretty well in place of composite armor for the kinetic protection. However, keep a few things in mind, some creatures have ranged attacks and the like which aren't kinetic based type of damage. (Acid). Although the range is not really a problem with the fencer profession, as most monsters will aggro you and charge in to their most certain doom, it is a fact that should be weighed and considered.

I picked up a nice set of ubese that was comparable to the composite i was wearing in regards to kinetic, and got theadded benefit of having reduced HAM costs on the armor. (As a twi'lek, I'll take all the secondaries I can get). Also keep in mind, that while the ubese will serve as a good fist blocker, when up against NPCs you will have a different problem as most NPCs will try and kite you and use their energy/cold/heat damage weapons.

All in all, Ubese is a good option for you if you aren't look to break the bank, and it will hold up well in melee. And you should be able to get a set of kinetic resistant ubese comparable to your current set of comp.

You could also try and find a master armorsmith to repair your comp. for you before you shell out too much on any new armor.

Armorsmith's get no bonus to repair. You have just as good of a chance of repairing as a Master Armorsmith.

If you're doing mostly PvE against creatures and such, a good set of 75% Ubese or higher will do you just fine.
