I'm not planning on changing my template until I see how it stacks up (no pun intended) after the changes. Fencer was my only combat profession for ten months so it would take an extreme set of circumstances to prompt me to hack at my template.
The rumour is that we will be given a one-time only skill point reallocation. If this is true then I hope we can trigger the change when we have had a chance to test the new system. When publish 9 hit all jedi had to choose a new template when they first logged in. This was necessary since the old skill trees no longer existed but players will want a chance to use their existing templates before deciding whether to switch or not. That is unless the scale of the revamp is such that we no longer even have the same Novice -> four branches -> Master path.

Im currently master fencer, CM 4004, but im dropping down to master fencer/master rifleman, medic 4200 and scout 4010, think this temp will be pretty good in both pvp and pve.
Since they're only making the mods of the profession you're wielding a weapon for count (ive heard this is how they're nerfing defense stackers), you only get fencer mods/defenses when using a fencer weapon, and only get rifleman stuff while wielding a rifle.
Think with they way they're doing this, the best all around template to use would be a mix of one elite ranged profession and one elite melee profession. Ranged typically deal more damage, and melee typically have the defense. My basic idea is to use ranged until things get close and switch to fencer to get back my defense mods and melee defense.
Im keeping medic for healing and scout for terrain negotiation and a little hunting.
Let's try this way...

There is no combat rebalace....
