As many others before me I need advice on which top level Fencer skills not to take. I am currently a Master Smuggler & Master TKA and enjoy both very much. However, in order to further round out my character I picked up additional melee skills. At first I tried Pikeman, this was fun but I bored quickly. Now I'm a Novice Fencer and have a template that I'm trying to decide upon. I don't have the points to Master Fencer and I'm unwilling to drop points from Smuggler nor TKA to get Master Fencer. So...i'm left with this. Should i complete with 4/4/2/2, 2/4/4/2, or 4/4/4/0 or some other random combination?

I forgot to mention an important aspect of this...I don't do much PvP but lots of PvE.

4/4/4/0 is solid

thats pretty much every aspect of defense with fencing. the last tier has to do with accuracy mods.

the bleeds will come in handy if you use them for PVE, and you will get the melee, and ranged defense line, the defenses vs lines, both of them, plus the speed, and dots.

the dots work as 2 seperate 3 stacking dots, so a total of 6 specials.

3 from each, and deal a good amount of damage.

this would be my advice, but im new to fencing myself, and thus maybe someone with more experience can help.

hate to say it but pistoleer would be a better choice. increase your pistol speed and accuracy so last ditch hits faster and more often. and you get more dodge and some ranged mitagation this way too

I was very near Master Pistoleer when I dropped it. I do FAR more damage within melee range than I did trying to spam Last Ditch. I can still utilize my Smuggler Pistoleer skills if need be...a kiter can be taken down with LB, PS, LB...and then when I'm on them within melee distance it is over within seconds. IMHO this particular setup for what I do is far more powerful. With Pistoleer, I was never able to take down an Enraged Rancor; with this setup I can.

Thank you Valkari for you advice. I'll start up the speed tree and go from there.

Pistoleer / Smuggler / TKM is all you need if your not a PvP junkie....TKM is all the melee you need, and with Pistoleer Defense vs mods you wont have to worry about KD...and its got other mods aswell...like melee and range defense , and master Pistoleer is better than near Master I found.

thats just my two cents...that was a template I used to have and it was good in PvP aswell because I couldnt be KDed (only got KDed twice)

btw...do you use armor or buffs ? or food or spice ? because I was speaking as how I play...I use food and buffs and spice in emergencies....may be better setups if you dont buff
