6. Lastly... NO FLAMING! If you disagree with something another person wortoe, then just state your opinion. When I read it and see that yours differs, it becomes very obvious you disagree. There is no need to quote each line of someone else's post in this particular thread, and rip each word apart and cross analyze it.Let your opinion and post stand on its own two legs.

If one does not disagree, but rather wants to complementa posterfor a most excellent idea, would that be considered bad as in reference to the "Let your opinion and post stand on its own two legs"?This far there have been no comments regarding others thoughts, and I am hoping this isn't because so many disagree and don't post because of the flamerestriction. I mean, ifpeople feel therewas nothing good to be said... Anyway, just wanted to know if it was ok to post complements, or do the Correspondent prefer the thread to be as clean as possible?

i don't know the answer to those questions, but i sure would like to know how Raphayl wortoe anything ever. is this a new SWG MOB? if it is, i hope i never meet an enraged wortoe.

compliments as i see it are definitely welcome as long as they're done tastefully. everyone likes to hear their post was informative or helpful. and i think Raphayl was referring *only* to flaming, which is the personal attack on a poster without any actual content. posting positive comments shouldn't be restricted, as i see it. when we degenerate into mudslinging, that's when the boards cease being useless. if a post has no actual content but at least remains positive, you still walk away with something.

that's only my take on it, though. i just wanted to say SOMEthing since Raphayl can't always post at work.

What? You never wortoed as a kid? You missed a step in life!

That's a fair question, Braglor. Here's how I see it:

I don't really have a problem with people complimenting others' ideas. The only concern is that when you compliment someone's post, you are (in a way) grading it. If you begin the "grading" phase of this, then others jump into the grading process, but may notdo so positively. It almost invariably spirals into a flame war.

Plus... right now all I am doing is polling for information... not feedback on that information. Not yet anyway. Once we have a good foundation of ideas, I'm going to compile them all and post them in a new thread with the complied information so we can discuss them. At that point I will no longer be looking for new ideas, but feedback on the existing ideas. This feedback will help to further hone those ideas and concepts, and allow us to make a final draft. This final draft is what we willsend to the developers.

So... we will get around to the feedback process. I just find taking things a step at a time helpful in stayingorganized.
