I plan on doing the following skills and I would like to know what everyone else thinks about them:

Master Fencer, Master TKA, Master Brawler, and Medic 4-1-4-0

Skill points are fine, except i might have something wrong with the medic ones.

Anyway, I'm really just curious to know if the ranged and melee defense from TKA will work when I'm using a sword. Or if there are any problems with that let me know. This is the first time I've done melee, so I'm kinda lost.

As far as we know (ignore the rumors in the Pistoleer forums), melee defense and ranged defense and special attack defenses (dizzy, blind, stun, knockdown, intimidate, posture change down, posture change up - am I forgetting any?) all stack with those from other professions and are used no matter what weapon you have equipped. Dodge, counterattack, block and defensive acuity only apply when you are using, respectively: a pistol or a one-handed weapon, a carbine or a two-handed weapon, a rifle or a polearm, and when fighting unarmed or with vibroknucklers.

damage mitigation does however NOT stack

Correct. Only your highest Damage Mitigation (of either kind) is in effect at a time.

negative on the unarmed, thats confirmed btw.

you can't get anything to stack with unarmed or TKA in terms of counter attack, dodge, or block.

nothing will work with defensive acuity, and thats confirmed by the devs.
