Thread: Whats the best type of sword to use...
You can kill yourself if you have agaderiffi, a stun baton, ora v-bladein your hand when you do the costlybrawler effect specials like lunge, warcy, and intimidate. If you can get the timing right, use a dagger or a stone knife to hit these specials and switch to a big damage weapon to start throwing either your big hits, a bleed, or just auto-attack.
When I know that winning the fight depends on landing that effect,I know I can just spam away untilit landsand save hundreds of HAM points.
I go on the bazaar and look for stone knives with a mind cost of about 5 or less. You can actually find some nice stone knives this way, I've found some with niceskill mods or poisons, people sell them for nothingbecause they think they're useless.

You should apply the same strategy to using Dizzy Hit and Blind Hit. When using those attacks, it is the effect that is desired, not the damage inflicted, so use a low-HAM/damage weapon for them. The best thing to do is create macros that allow you to switch to the low-HAM weapon, execute the attack, then (if desired) switch back to your main weapon, all with the press of one hotkey. Using the right tools for the tasks at hand is the key to effective combat.
Is it just me or does it seem like there is something fundamentally wrong with putting away your big spikey stick or curved sword and pulling out a tooth pick to intimidate your opponent?
Intimidate, warcry, and lunge should not be based on the weapon's HAM use. ![]()

Indeed, well said. The source of this lack of realism lies with the developers; we're just figuring out how to best use the Fencer's arsenal of attacks. Perhaps it would be best to assign each weapon a "fear value" multiplier, and have the base effectiveness of Warcry/Intimidate be amplified (or diminished) by that value. As the scariest-looking weapons, the Rantok Sword and Gaffi Stick would have the highest multipliers, while punier-looking weapons (including vibroblades) would have smaller multipliers which might even reduce the attacks' effectiveness. This would also be neat because it would allow even further customization and variability within the weapon sets; not only does the Fencer have to weigh speed against damage, s/he has to weigh the fear factor as well, depending on how heavily the fear-related attacks are relied upon. I dunno, it's just an idle thought.
