Hey guys, I mastered fencer the other day and I must say I love it. Just wondering your thoughts on going up against people with 80% comp armor with stun resists? I bought a vibroblade and I hope that helps me somewhat. What do you guys usually do when you realize that you attacks arn't going thru?

Well stun shouldn't be too high on the armor, at least i don't think it is on my server... its about 30 maybe 40% stun resists. If someone is wearing composite resistant to stun then it has to be voulnerable vs something. Try to check the armor on your server out and find what it is. If your multi-combat profession you may have something up your sleeve to help on this.

The VibroBlade would be my first choice as well, it has the AP1 and should still affect the target nicely. Thats about all i can say with out seeing the armor your going up against first hand.

have u checked out the stats of a gaffi compared to a vibroblade? gaffi's that i know can deal out the more damage, i've never used a vibro though. and u can switch back and forth with weapons during a battle and see what is hitting the hardest. i could be off, i'm still messing with my blademaster and weapons.

Yep! the AP1 of the VibroBlade is king vs composite from what i've seen. Could be wrong though, i need to start doing some actual testing and documenting it this weekend to get proper stats on it all though.

i've always just used a stun baton against composite....let me know how the testing goes i may have to track down a vibroblade on my server.

ON my server it is no problem to find composite armor with 72 - 80% resist to stun damage....however if it has that high against stun, it's only average against others. Usually about 40 - 60% in other areas. THe problem fencers have is we only have 2 types of attacks, kinetic and stun, but the good thing is our fast fast speed and lots of status changing speicials.

As for weapons, I haven't pvp'd with my fencer skills. Usually I use my master pistoleer skills for pvp but I imagine that a vibroblade is very effective simply because it has armor peircing and other fencer weapons don't. I just equate a weapon with AP1 to not having it's damage reduced when fighting an opponent with armor. Where a gaffi does more damage than a vibro blade, it also has it's damage reduced far more than a vibro because it has no AP1 and further more since everyone has kenetic resist armor, usually 80% for both pvp and pve. So you get 50% damage reduction for attack against armored opponents with a gaffi and also another 80% for the resist. vibro blades only suffer the 80% resist because they have ap1.

This all boils down to examining your opponent. if they have high resist to kinetic (60% or higher), you'll be better off using your vibro or stun baton regardless to the damage on them. Stun baton is better if they have no stun resist. also, getting the best weapons you can have made for you is always the first option when you pvp....in pve it really doesn't matter because mobs are just plain dumb and won't adjust much at all if any to your tatics.

I've found Vibro > Gaffi, especially when fighting people. HAM costs are my biggest concernes (especially mind) and my vibros are 11/22/11. Stun batons are nice, but they pack a huge Mind cost...

So, pick carefully. Perhaps just start out with a gaffi, cuz they won't know you're switching until it's too late (and they might do things based on seeing a gaffi).

i switch back and forth, and i usually do alot of pvp and is not like u can ask the other guy oh hey what % is your composite before u wack him, heh.....so i keep both (gaffi & stun baton) in a hotkey, but after hearing all this bout the vibroblade i think i will track one down and test this out...speciallly with the pvp escalating due to the crackdown...more fun for me.

if anyone knows of a good weaponsmith on lowca please let me know, been having a hard time tracking weapons down with all the holo grinding going on.

If there not fully armored i use a Gaffi stick with scatterhit 2. Since it preety much ignores armor alot. If there fully armored i use stun baton and scatterhit 2
