Thread: Low damage, but good for PVP??

So, i've been lurking in these boards for a bit, and reading something that has surprised me.

There's alot of comments about fencer having a low damage output... But, i've been leveled by fencers on more than one occasion in PvP, so i'm kind of confused.

I'm going to be re-rolling my alt to make them a Master Fencer + Master Doc for a PvP char (I stopped pvping with my rifle/cm because i got sick of the whining about me being FOTM, etc etc, even though i've been a MCM for about 7 months now... but that's a different topic of conversation).

So, the question is... with such low damage output, how do fencers level people so quickly (i understand how they stay alive, but i dont understand how they can put me down so quickly.)

Rinse and repeat as needed.

At least that's what I think we do, I don't PvP much. Oh yeah, find yourself a nice stun baton..they help alot.

Small bit of advice on that FOTM thing and pvp. People will tell you that your Master Fencer/Doc is FOTM too. I know it doesn't make sense, but from in game and on these boards, Ive come to find out that about 85% of the templates are "FOTM"

one thing that is extremely useful in PVE is the one handed spin 2. it is a default area attack that also blinds. so add in your dodge and it makes it even harder for a group of monsers to hit you. i just love running through the narg cave with hot pants and drawing all the monsters on the left side then dropping them all because they just cant hit you when they are blinded and you have CoB. its alot of fun lol.

Quite simply, up until recently, Composite had little or no resists to Stun-based attacks. On our server, the max s currently 40-43% though. Considering the Stun Baton is an AP0 weapon, significant damage can be absorbed. With a PSG, Fencers won't hit for much damage.

But considering the fact that most PvPers have at a minimum a250-300 max damage stun baton, at the speed cap, it's somewhat significant DPS (damage per second.)

It'd be a bit like PvPing wearing Chitin or Padded armor, really. Even 3k HAM, at 400 damage hits, will go down in a few seconds, and if you're Dizzy/KDed, even faster. That, and the fact that it's hard to hit us.

Also, ScatterHit bypasses any secondary defenses I'm told (like Dodge, Counterattack, KD food) and has a good chance of inflicting mind damage, and well all know how precious the mind is. Even a 40% stun Helmet won't save you.

Do you hit the speed cap at master, or is it like swordsman where you have to collect SEAs/AAs to hit the cap?

Fencers hit, if not surpass the speed cap. It's one of our top issues I believe. The fact that we're not allowed to hit as fast as we should be able to. Some folks are hoping that double wield will fix this.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

the key to the fencer is DEFENSE. you will do very little damage relative to the other melee professions, it is true, but against MOST templates, you can avoid being hit long enough to take out your opponent.
