First off, I am new to the PVP scene and I am getting my butt kicked. I have been reading all the posts and it seems we fencers rock in PVP, one both from master fencer atm. I seem to lose to those that have macros running. I have started playing with macro, got the COB macros running fine but when i make a macro for PVP it seems i wait before another move is made. Do we have to pause in between moves, for example, I want to dizzy then lunge , do i puase or just list both moves after another?

Any help would be helpful, and thanks tothose who could put some good examples of PVP macros they use

Thanks

2 things.

1st tehre is an issue with fencer combat animations which are unreasonably long and the game will wait executing moves until the animation for teh previous one finishes which may take up to 2 seconds or so. perhaps that is the pause effect you are referring to.

2nd if you have a macro, for example, 3x dizzy (in case you miss the first few), 3x lunge, and your 1at or 2nd hit succeeds so you wanna switch to scatter 2 macro, insert a /dump and clear command as the 1st line in it.

dump will cancel any currently runing macro, only bad thing is it will cancel your CoB as well, so you have to time it carefully, watch teh messages on your screen.

I think as a fencer the only macro you want to have running is CoB. I tryed to use macro's and found that I would alway's be trying to do other thing's like healstate, cure poison or disease. While 2 or 3 second's may not seem like alot, when you have potential poison tick's coming it is a big deal.

Also, you never want to spam lunge on an opponent, if you do happen to dizzy/kd them, lunging them again would cause them to stand up!

The issue with the animation's stoping you can be easily remedied by keeping you toon in constant motion, I literally run circle's around my enemies and rarely ever get animation lag.

COB macro is all I use, I havent lost a duel in a few weeks to anyone other than a guy in my PA who has the same template as me. Like was stated earlier don't spam lunge or they will stand back up and you wont get the dizzy kd. If you want to clear your buffer box fast hit cntrl backspace (this can come in handy if you need to use a stim and you have some stuff spammed). When I PVP I try to have every state I can on my opponent at all times. And I make sure they are never without intimidate from the second we start the duel. Even if my opponent switches to ranged and runs (I switch to rifles as I am master) I still keep the intimidate on them.
Oh yeah I actually do have one more macro but I don't harldy ever need to use it.. /warcry; /peace; this gives you time to stim yourself. Thats about the only thing usefull I have found to do with warcry since they made it so it only delayed them till you attack again.

Anyways hope that helps if there was any of these tactics you weren't already using.

I wouldn't suggest a dizzy/lunge macro since you may waste the lunge without them being dizzy. Nearly every button on my hotbar is a macro, but none are combat chains. Most are there to save room or promote efficiency. I'll list a few that I can remember as examples.

Loot/DB macro (gets used anytime something hits the ground in PvP or PvE)
/deathblow;
/sniperShot;
/loot all;
/harvest meat

Heal maro
/ui action clearCombatQueue;
/healDamage

Burst/gallop macro
/warCry1;
/burstRun;
/gallop

Most of my other macros are just combinations of moves used by different professions followed by /deathblow. Such as:

lunge macro
/melee1hLunge1;
/unarmedLunge1;
/deathblow

bleed macro
/melee1hHealthHit2;
/mindShot2;
/unarmedStun1;
/deathblow

The way I have them setup causes a lot of system message spam, but is fairly efficient and suits my playstyle pretty well. I had to give up friendly duels once I wrote /deathblow into everything.

how exactly does every one set up their CoB macro?

Thanks

1) Nerfed by the CU - Annoyed

2) SWG destroyed by the NGE - Pisssed

3) Cancellation to nerf the dev's pay check, priceless!!

I name it COB

/clear combatqueue; (optional)
/centerofbeing;
/pause 36;
/macro COB

It's up to you whether you clear your combat queue or not. If I am just out killing rancors or somethign like that, I will remove the combat queue clear - I don't care if the restart for the center of being goes in the instant it should and I am more put out by it clearing everything I've stuck in my queue before hand. For PVP, I want to not get hit, so it kicks in the second it wears off.

I'm wondering how many folks actually effectively use macros on a regular basis besides the COB macro. The folks above that posted that they don't macro attacks have very valid points - you don't know what's going to happen and a running macro will cause more harm than good often times. Even Darth's macros are fairly simple - that's to avoid the possible queue jamming I'd guess. Most macro heals, harvest, loot,or areshort fight sequences.

Macros below may have incorrect attacknames - use the name provided in your skills menu to ensure that they work.

This is a macro that I have set up for PVP - uses rifle and 1h skills

Name: KD

/ui action toolbarSlot#(Location of mind poison rifle);
/flushing2; (stuns)
/flurry2; (dizzies)
/ui action toolbarSlot#(Location of health poison gaffi);
/1hmeleeblind2;
/uiaction toolbarSlot#(Location ofaction poisonknife);
/1hintimidate;

/uiaction toolbarSlot#(Location of stun baton);

/macro KD;

Next attack depends on whether the dizzy has stuck or not. If it did, a 1hmeleelunge1 follows, if not another dizzy. That's my longest macro and I don't often use it due to the variabilities of most fights. Other note, PVP has becomeDOT wars - if you aren't draining pools with DOTs, you're not going to be competitive these days.

Similar fencer-only macro

Name: Fence

/1hmeleeintimidate;

/1hmeleeblind2;

/1hmeleedizzy2;

/macro Fence

Some use a dizzy/kd macro. Problem is if you miss the dizzy, you waste your opportunity for your posture down. Also, if you're using one of the above macros and you're kitedor dizzy/kd'd you'll have a full combat queue of wasted attacks.

After all that, I'd venture a guess that these pvp folks that gave you the trouble used few or no macros. They had armor sliced to 85%+ effectiveness with 35%+ stun layers, they ate damage reduction food, dizzy defense food, drank brandy, had excellent doctor buffs, and used looted high damage, high strength/potency DOT weapons.
