Thread: Offense Vs. Defense (how do you play Fencer?)
I'm a 2-2-2-2 Fencer and I never wear armor when fighting (except for that one time against a Tusken Observer). I also find PVP play to be extremely distasteful considering what it's turned into.I've found Fencer to be one of the most interesting, challenging, and fun combat professions to have. I tell all my friends that, in order to get thru any tough fight well, I really have to concentrate on what I'm doing and what's happening around me. If I loose my concentration at the wrong time, I could easily wind up dead fast.
I'm still learning day to day how best to adjust my fighting style. On the weaker opponents I can generally blaze in and stay totally offensive. With the much tougher opponents (con yellow or red or have high kinetic resistance) I often have to moderate myself. During the tougher, longer duration engagements, I find myself concentrating almost totally on my defenses and in inflicting state's on my enemy. Many times I've gotten thru tough fights and defeated my opponent just by the hair on my chinny chin chin (with just slivers of HAM remaining). Those seem to happen more often as I continue to take on more challenging enemies.
So I guess in response to your overall question, I use a great mixture of tactics depending on my opponent. Quite often however, I find it necessary to remain as defensive as possible. This is one of the reasons I'm enjoying being a fencer so much.
If i attack i usually die in a blaze of glory....if i defend i die cowardly ![]()
Anyway seriously, I just use my quickest attack speed weaps. Obviously we dont do a lot of damage (unless Acklay is involved)
I tend to try and "tank" in PvP while my team mates take the kill. (until i get some acklay anyway
