Thread: Just joined ranks
Well, I joined Fencer because of the Sith Holocron. At first it was a force feeding of dirt. My recommendation is to do the footwork tree 1st. I did 0/0/1/0 just to get some extra dodge. After footwork 4 things get very good even though you get little more than an improved bleed, a tad of dodge and a ton of speed. I came str8 over to fencer from commando so i can imagine what you will feel as you progress.
#1- Kiting. Even the NPCs will do it, ive had to chase NPCs so far from their base before that it respawns the mission. even with lvl 4 in everything but trapping in scout they outrun me. Thats why i recommend a lunge/dizzy right off the bat.
#2- Working your way around Armor- You will soon realize that fencer is strictly PvE and a distracting class. The only thing i know of with AP is the AP-Light VibroBlade. It pays off on warlords. The stun baton is almost worthless against even the smallest % of resisted armor. ALWAYS BRING BACKUP. You can last a LONG time in a fight with a good set of buffs, armor and brandy, but in the end your best move may be to invite a sniper to PvP with you.
#3- Top Enemies of the Class- TK,Combat Medic,Swordsman, and Pistoleer. Rifleman can be a pain too but much less so because they can do little if you run into a building. TK will probably be your biggest enemy because of extreme accuracy that kills your dodge, huge speed and damage as well as knock down- a feat only master brawler/fencers can do.
Overall its a GREAT class to do PvE. The dodge keeps wounds light and fatigue low. The speed and damage of a near master- master is almost that of a TK with the Gaffi Stick. If you plan on targeting a PvP opponent you may choose, Pikeman, Rifleman, Carbineer, MAYBE combat medic if you have the element of surprise, Bounty Hunter, and maybe Commando.
A word of advice before attacking a commando- at least be buffed and brandied. Commandoes dont often survive unless they get a direct hit on you or flame you and burst run. Even if the primary damage of a flamer gets dodged it WILL DOT you causing great wounds and most certain death if you are unbuffed or lacking good medic skills.
Hope this helps some, I may have gotten some things wrong or missed others. GL.
