Thread: Fencing with no Armor

I'm a 2-2-2-2- Fencer now and have decided to finish out Fencer and really see what I'm capable of by continuing to fight without armor except, occasionally, a composite helmet. Since starting this, I've become a brandy junky. I spent one night on Dantooine with a couple of my friends and, after 5 hours of fighting quenkers, pickets, bol's, and Kunga's, I managed to get 3/4 of the way to a level 3 skill. It seemed to work out rather well. Granted, I and my friends were buffed, without which I couldn't have fought all the mobs I did. It was still pretty tough though and I had to make full use of my COB to avoid damage. I've also spent a goodly amount of time at the Talus POI's and the Mauler Outpost on Naboo fighting without armor or buffs.
I'm curious as to how many other of my fellow fencers find that they can still fight effectively without the need for armor and if there are any Master's out there that fight in this manner and what they have found they can handle without armor. I'm still fairly dependent on brandy and Stim B's, but I enjoy it much more without having to wear ugly armor. I'm going to try the Endor circuit later this week, but I'm still going to get buffed first (not a complete idiot). Am I the only one who dislikes having to wear armor?

Agree. No point in wearing armor as a fencer on Dant. Even with 2222 like you said, if you start your COB, you should be able to tank the hardest lair without dying. A master can take lairs of rancors without armor - probably need at least some kinetic ubese to kill enraged or ancient bull rancors.
I'm afraid it shows more the power of buffs than the power of armor here. I can't walk out the front door without a buff due to the massive mind migration I've had to take on in order to be viable in PVP.

Yeah. I never drank brandy period until I started fencing. No helmet for me, the mind drain is too deep with most weapons at 0/4/1/2 (a matter of missions away from 0/4/2/3). Making master footwork will improve things greatly and i imagine that */*/3/* with its body hit 3 would be very nice... very hard on your stats. Unbuffed its hard enough not to drain yourself on a target, which is often the primary reason I see fencers lose duels. Armor is not worth its weight for me.

Basically the only thing I ever need armor for as a master fencer is krayts, ancient bull rancors, and ns. And with the sisters i need it against only very few of them, like the elders, i can take down spellweavers without it though.

As a master Fencer I don't wear armor most of the time. I still ahve a full set of Ubese for when some thing starts getting lucky and hitting me more then it should. I take out ER lairs with out armor and with out heals. I'm a Master fencer, Novice Pikeman, and a low rifleman. If you don't use you're stun baton you won't need brandy nearly as much. I use only 15 Mind with my G stick and 35 with my stun baton. So use the G stick and smack things around. If you do use brandy you will take almost no mind hit with a G stick. I also don't use the bugged scatterhit2. I use bodyhit3 and I can take out an ER lair in about 3-5 minutes.
All noivce fencers should get the speed modifiers first. I didn't and it took me a a lot longer to get to master then it should have. In fact I did the speed last and was very hapy when I saw how fast I could lay on the dammage with the speed bonuses.

I never use armor. I don't have any! Still too poor 
But, as a 0/1/0/0 fencer with buffs and brandy I do Quenker and Voritormissions on Dant with little trouble. I don't fly through the lair like many people do in 3-5 mins but I do ok I suppose. Should be 0/2/0/1 real soon. I'm hoping that will make a big difference.

As a 4/4/1/3 Fencer I have really not worn armor since I started the grind, but I am a Master doc so that helps but.... Since I finished the speed tree I rarely ever use stimpacks anymore. As for Krayts I tried to tank one without armor and I think I lasted maybe 20 secs, while a fencer guildie in comp did not even get a scratch. I recommed getting some nice BE clothes and go to town, I have some +4 melee def/+17 stun camo pants, a +4 melee def Spec ops duster and a couple other minor tapes.
