Thread: Question on Fencer with a touch of TKM

Fencer was my first Holo, I love it so much I will never change, yet I am now looking at picking up a little TKM mostly for power boost and meditate.


However, if I want too, I can drop some Medic skills and pick up Unarmed Knockdown 1, maybe even 2.


Now my current means of knocking people down is to dizzy them, then posture change with a lunge. It would be nice to have an actual "knockdown" option as well.


My question is this, my TKM "skill" will be much much lower then my fencer skill, meaning I will have a lot harder time hitting some things. Will I miss so often using my TKM knockdown that it wont work very well? Yes, this is for PVE as well as for PVP.

I just finished a spreadsheet comparing some templates using Fencer and TKM (I know.. I'm a nerd...) Anyways...

Here's what I found by comparing what gives the best Defense/Offenses...



  • Teras Kasi Master/Master fencer/ Master Brawler/Medic 4040 (or 3340) Very nice, probably the best I've seen so far melee fighter. Nice defenses (for example knockdown +70, Dizzy +45, blind +50, etc...) coupled with nice offense (master fencer, TKM need I say more) added into all that you have the bonuses from master Brawler and the ability to use Stim D's, First Aid, and Drag Incapacitated players.) Good stuff.

  • TKM/Fencer/Swordsman : Straight up offensive template. best overall for offense but defenses are not as good. Oh yeah, and no medic skills. I'm working on this template on Sunrunner mainly for PvP purposes.


If... you're thinking of just dabbling in TK, I highly suggest the Meditation line as well as Balance (I believe... 0400 that is) the third line gives speed and power along with dizzy which you already have as a fencer. It's not really a dabbling type of class but Meditate 4 was hard to give up when I started holo'ing. Check out those templates I suggested, use the online character calculator at http://swgcb.yogn.net/index.phpit gives a nice report to look through.

I am doing the meditation line for sure, that is the main reason I am going TKM at all.


My question is really, will I really hit people often enough to make the TKM knockdown a factor?

unless you're fighting another fencer or pistoleer, you'll probably get a hit in. regardless of that, i wouldn't get kd... too many people have defense vs it, there is beastly food for it, and overall against posture change down, thereis very little defense.

tkm is teras kasis master, your going tka, teras kasis artist. and no u will not kd people with that**edit** accuracy

If you just get Knockdown 2 (so lets say TK 4400) gives you Unarmed accuracy of +70

it would hardly hit and if you hit them, itd hardly stick, you got like a 10% max chance of kding someone, trying against soemone with a template like mine 125 melee defense 120 kd defense, u got like .5% a chance to kd me.

Hmm interesting. That's what I was afraid of, that it would hardly ever hit. I definitly plan on going up the meditate line, just not sure about the other. I guess the state defenses woud help as well.


People always seem to say that posture change works better then knockdown, but I can never ever get that to work. Even when people don't have high defenses, I can never seem to posture change in PVP or PVE.
