Thread: Is fencer DPS?

Well the 'dps class' style thinking doesnt really fit in the Post-CU game like it does in other games. From a pure dps sort of view, you can find comparable weapon DPS in any type. So the difference really comes down to moves.
Polearms is great for AOE style fighting. Does decent damage to everyone nearby. So when fighting herds, poles really gives the best damage. And you can knock entire groups of enemies on their butts which is very fun.
But Swordsman has the hardest hitting single target moves. It also has Area Taunt which is essential for a great tank. Adding area taunt to polearms area moves is a fabulous combo. Put the TKM defenses on top of that and its amazing. Their Armor break is also great, not just for increasing the damage you do, but the rest of your group as well.
Fencer is less about the damage, and more about the specials effects attached to the moves. Blinds, snares, bleeds, that sort of thing. So from a pure damage point of view, its probably the least what you're looking for.

it's okay, over time you'll be more damage if you use low sac weapons. Swordman wins hands down in terms of damage specials and good crafted weapons however. Personaly I'm only master fencer for the style. As a smuggler it was all about the flair and to me the only melee class with flair is fencer. Someone that know's their template inside and out will be good with it no matter what.

I think swordsman will have better dps than fencer. I'm master fencer, master tka, and doc 4000. The reason I went with fencer is because fencer's speical attack animation looks better than swordsman. I may switch to swordsman later, but I still like fencer.
pfff that's why you use master fencer and it's weapons and dabble in swords for the specials ![]()
Anyone that underestimates me becuase I'm a fencer doesn't ever again. If you know your template you will beat alot of people.
Also having the super duper weapon and specials doesn't mean jack if you have a weapon with a SAC of 104 and run through action in 5 seconds.
