At one point I ran The Swordbrethren, in which no member was allowed to use ranged weapons. Had everything from an Initiation rite to advancment within the ranks though a combination of challenges and accomplishment.
Hologrinding killed it... all members left the game besides me.

Well in essence it was the equivilent of a Galactic Samurai House, Masters of each melee profession sat on a council under the Maestro, a Training Master sat beside the Profession Masters, and an Artisan Representitive brought their needs/issues before the council but was not anything more than an advisor to the council.
Students had ranks below their master, and could petition the Maestro for a chance to challenge the sitting Master. The Maestro upon reviewing the subordinate's actions and honor, would either grant or deny the challenge, at which time the members of the House would gather to witness the duel. Sometimes the Maestro would present a quest to the challenger to detirmine his worthiness to challenge his Master.
Further, to gain respect within the house, the Masters and the Maestro would offer quests to the students based on the current needs for the House.
For instance (keep in mind we were operating when there was only 3 Master Architects for example at all on the server) if the Weaponsmiths deeded the House to support their practice with financial backing, a quest would be offered to students to provide funding for a particular smith's factories harvesters and training.
All items produced by the crafters were first offered to House Masters to distribute among the students, any left over would be sold on the market.
Masters had the authority to petition the Maestro to have the House sponser hunts, or Tournaments, or good will visits to other allied PA's.
The PA was Rebel alligned allowing neutrals only after they passed inspection by a covert detector (back when they were working).
And the Maestro (myself) Roogah Heeveah, was 72 years old. He remmebered the place Jedi had, and their codes. And one of the primary duties of the House was to seek out and protect those Sensitive to the Force, and had the PA lasted, would have been honor bound to destroy those force users who had fallen to the dark side.
Entrance into the Sword Brethren only occured after performing several tasks as a rite of passage. These Varied to the individual, and were only set by the Maestro or the Training Master. Some of them were.
Provide aid selflessly and honorably to someone in need.
Master a particular aspect of Melee combat, (usually as simple as Unarmed IV)
Renounce the use of ranged weapons, and had you used them previously, turn them in to be displayed as a symbol of your renunciation of the old ways to your new brethren.
Once the Training Master has approved the initiate he went before the Maestro.
Then the secret initiation task, set forth only by the Maestro. And no one ever reveals their secret task. And to ask another brethren about their task would be grounds for immediate expulsion from the order.
Beyond this structure there was an elder status that was gained through either being defeated in an honorable title challenge, or stepping down from a position voulentarily, or by surpassing ones limitations in combat or non combat activities thus earning the respect of the Maestro as an Equal without haveing held a position.
Staying in character in spatial was a requirment at all times, no matter what others around you were doing or saying.
Conflicts within the House were settled in the circle of honor, and normal conflicts were always resolved though combat duel useing equal weapons, no armor, no buffs, no PSG's. Some conflicts were resolved in the circle of honor by riddle or knowledgability as detirmined appropriate by the Maestro.
Conflicts from outside the house were reviewed by the council as a whole with the Maestro being offering a say only in the case of a tie. Normally in the case of a possible exploit used by a House member against a non house member the offender would be offered the oporunity to enter the Circle of Honor to seek redemption. In the case of griefing if the offender member of the Swordbrethren was found by the council to be guilty they would be cast out of the house as Ronin or be given the oportunity to commit seppuku (by actually deleteing their character.) In the latter instance they would be allowed to re-join the Swordbrethren and be given their former characters possesions. However a second guilty verdict would leave them forever Ronin, and all Allied PA's would be made aware of their shame.
If they were to choose to become Ronin, they were offered a chance at redemption after one month, they would have to gain the forgivness of their victim, and the Victim's allies. And Perform a quest that would be so difficult they would likely not succeed. The only person allowed to help the Ronin on this quest would be the Ronin's original Victim.
In battle, the Maestro acted as General, the Masters of each Profession acted as Advisors and protectors to the General (grouping only with the General and a single medically trained house member), and the Elders would command the individual groups.
In battle no one was allowed to question the orders of their superiors, to do so would be immediate branding as Ronin, subject to the first violation terms of being Ronin.
Anyway... that was a long time ago.

I have a Master Fencer on TC, I just don't have the time to work up my other Template skills, and work up my Eclipse character, and work on my Starsider character. And sew the coat I'm makeing. And keep up with Correspondent stuff. And create a web community from scratch for which I haven't found a web designer yet. And make enough money to do all things listed above.
Not to mention my writing projects, theatrical directing, keep up with SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) issues, make informed analysis's of the governments fall into facism though the use of fear mongering in the pursuit of deifying capitalism, keep up with all the crimes being committed by the Government against it's own people, and find the spare time to enjoy the company of those I love.
There just aren't enough hours in the day for another full time character.

Well what I'm looking for is a full web database application that allows multi-level security tiers allowing varying level of Database access, User Interface with the database perfferably as a client side application as well as an HTML application. Graphics are great but the functionality required for this project is intense.
The flip side is it's an idea that almost can't miss breaking everyone involved into the game industry in one fassion or another.

I would join a reborn version of that guild, regaurdless of which server you planted it on.
It'd be sweet to have a TC Fencer guild.
