Why isnt the gaffi ap1? i mean check out this screenshot http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=146119&poll_id=0&warned=y
See it is made with scrap metal, the gaffi has a sharp point on it. if it is metal and it has a sharp point, why isnt it ap1????

Well, I think you can'taccount for exceptional and legendary loot weapons with a logical explanation, loot weapons area product of the same kind of random lootdesignthat we see intraditional fantasy MMORPGs. Similarly, I don't think there's a logical explanation for a weapon to have infinite reserves of disease or poison.
Note how the curved sword and the two-handed curved sword do not appear to be fundamentally different in design. Nor the scythe or the two-handed cleaver when you get down to it. But the two-handed swordsall haveAP2.
So, I think the difference is in the technique of the intended user. I think it would bereasonable to say that someone could hit hard enough to defeat armor with a one-handed weapon. However, I don't think that's the fencer's goal. I think the fencer is trying to strike quickly and accurately, whereas the swordsman is trying to crush the opponent.
This is why I don't think a fencer weapon should have AP1 unlessit issome kind of powered weapon like the vibroblade. But I'm all for vibro-powered sword types, electrical swords, etc, and I think they should have armor piercing whenever it seems reasonable.
I think in the hands of a fencer, the gaderiffi spike would be more like a slashing point than an armor-piercing one.

That would be following the thought trail that fencers are the fastest and most accurate hitters for melee, but the fact is anyone can catch our speed, and only pikeman i think can miss more that us due to attatchments, and yet fencer damage attatchment doesn't work so our major weakness cannot be upgraded as opposed to sword and pike who are slower and less accurate for power.

You've got a point there. I suppose the current system might also suggest that if you are fighting defensively, you are not doing as much damage.
But I'm thinking more of the basic design concept of the profession, rather than what is in practice now. I hope the combatupgrade restoresthe intendeddifferences between the professions, even among Masters. I think these differences are more evident at lower levels, but at master start to become less meaningful. Unfortunately, most people don't spend a whole lot of time at lower levels.
I would think that ideally, the different melee professions could be looked at in terms of defense, accuracy, speed, and damage/damage type/AP. Professions could be strong in some of these qualities, but not all.

Why doesn't a blaster to the head incap or kill you in one shot? How can someone dodge a projectile moving faster than the speed of sound...alot? How can you beat a Graul that is 10x's taller and 100x's heavier than you when it should just stomp and peel you off of its foot? Why dont grenades blow people in tiny bits all of the time? Why are fencer weapons primarily clubs?
Its a game. The gaffi was written like that. Thats why.

Gaffi not Ap1 or more. I have to agree with that. We fencers don't seem to have armor piercings. Not exactly a factor if you're a stunbaton user, but most of us like the gaffis
Btw that is one hl of a gaffi. Thats more powerful than presliced pwr hmrs or othr sword's btlxs and clvrs.
And way faster...WHERE DID YOU GET THAT???
