I would go for a whakasashi, the shorter brother of a katana, but i guess we allready have this jsut called a curved sword.
Doesnt quite remind me of the old samurai's tho

What would it be? Ive heard a lot about adding a Foil to the list, but Id say the Rhomphaia would be a hot new Item. Somebody go look that bad boy up, the only 2 good images ive found are either too graphic (can you say decapitation) or the site bombards you with popups. Essentially a curved sword turned around and with the cutting edge on the inside of the curve. Awarded at Master Fencer - AP1 165-225 damage Speed- 3.4. Not a true fencing weapon, but neither is a gaffi

The baton swords used in the Hellboy would be extremely cool with dual wield. Laser rapier, vibrosword and light foil would be cool and Star Warsy. The sword I'd most like to see, though, would be this Royal Navy officer's sword. When I look at that beauty I say to myself "now that's a sword."

Any sort of foil would make me happy, actually make me feel more like a fencer than I do when using 1h LS.

A nice big cutless with a basket hilt and a decent curve to it or a REAL rapier with a nice meaty base/tang that tapers to a not so small pointed tip. Maybe even the chinese 1 handed swordoften seen in the use of tai-chi which werebased off of real designs. All are perfect for the hack and slash that goes with fencing as well as a nice available pokey tip. And definitely not the car antennae that barely function as mortal instruments against non-armored opponents.

Here's an idea that has been passed around before, I think fencers could get a great selection of weapons and all players could get great content if they had a line of ceremonial military swords for pilots and factional officers.
There's always been talk about wearable weapons. I'm not sure how achievable this would be, so this could be seen as a separate component.
Players, either on the basis of a level box in a pilot line, or a faction rank, could qualify for a sword. Or maybe it could be a special quest involving either space or ground activities that qualified you for a special Order. Or maybe each faction squadron, and each privateer faction could get their own version.
The way I see it, Imperial or RSF would be a bit more ceremonial, like a Royal Navy small sword, a Rebel or CorSec weapon would be simpler and more functional in appearance, more like a U.S. military sword. Smuggler's Alliance would get something more like a cutlass. And then maybe a non-pilot cvilian could also get something as a reward.
These would be rewards to hang on the wall (or wear if it's ever possible). Maybe it would have no certification, except for the fact that only Fencers would really take full advantage of it.
In keeping with the SW continiuity, I think these could be vibro weapons, and thus be AP1. The base stats would be the same across the board, upgradeable through loot or experimentation. Maybe there would be a basic vibrosword that weaponsmiths could easily produce, thenthe quest or rank-based reward would actually be a texture kit that would give the final appearance.
