Hi, well apparently i have to master fence, being a master pistoleer perviously im looking forward to the new challenge as its not something i would not have picked to start with. Any hints for a newcomer? Just got my first sword and working through the first brawler tree to get fencer. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the new group of fencers. I too got the same message. I was a master CH/pistoleer/medic, but now I'm going up the fencer tree.

Here is a tip. When you need to free up skill points for learning fencer, save your pistoller tree 4 skills for last. That way you save alll your combat XP. When I first learned novice fencer, I had enough combat XP to get three boxes in the fencer 4 tree right off the bat. That gave me blind2 which is quite nice to have.

hehe. you've been out collecting holocrons? welcome!

i think you'll find this the most helpful community out there. now for my bit of useless advice:

Footwork first. i just got master footwork and i can now do 1000 damage a second with a tatooine sunburn and a gaffi stick. add in intimidate and war cry and i can take down some pretty big stuff if i have a little luck and good stims (bull rancor once. haven't been able to repeat it, though). Fencer is fortunately and unfortunately a very strategic and personal class. everyone needs different weapons and armor because your play style greatly impacts what you need. this is good because we're not cookie cutter. it's bad because it's hard to discuss weapons with someone who never uses specials vs. someone who loves to style away.

and to warn you: our correspondent is, well... amazing. so we generally have a purpose here and don't have to scream and yell at devs or other pleyers, which (though you both look like fairly new members) you'll enjoy as much as i do, i hope.

the footwork has two bleed attacks which are very nice, and the technique tree has the body hits. these two trees combined have made me a killing machine.

good luck and enjoy the swordplay!

I would get master footwork, then advanced stances and grips, then expert techniques, then finish out stances and grips, and go back to technique.

Reasoning is simple, footwork gives speed and defense vs knockdown and a hella bleed on health hit 2. The defense from adv stances will be necessary and helpful working towards blademaster. Expert techniques because body hit 3 is very effective and very useful in conjucntion with health hit 2.

Get a good vibro blade and a good curved sword. At adv footwork get an advanced gad baton and pray for a speed slice.

The attic was less to us from the cellar the bones like the attic let them have it let them stay in the attic. When they sometimes come down the stairs at night and stand perplexed behind the door and headboard of the bed brushing that chalky skull with chalky fingers with sounds like the dry rattling of a shutter. Thats what I sit up in the dark to say.

Well my advice to you would be to get Footwork one then technique one(purley for body hit 2).Then I'd go all the way to Footwork four. Then I would get a Gaderiffi Baton(commenly known as Gaffi stick hehe thats why i cant spell it) and get it sliced. At this point I recommend going to church and praying for a nice damage slice cause speed is unimportant at footwork four. At this point i would recommend getting up to technique three. This is were I'd say u can go up trees randomly.

Good luckon ur road to Blademaster.

I just hope someday i get a holocron that says Juddy u must master fencer

Now I am only a 0110 fencer but so far I have found that having a gaffi and a curved sword is wonderful. I pull out the gaffi to initiate combat, hit my bleed shot and my body hit 2 for massive bleed and massive starting damage. The speed on the gaffi is still slow but it doesnt matter cause once I finish body hit 2 I pull out my curved sword and make use of the speed. I can kill any crature under 7K using this fashion, without berserk, intimidate, or war cry. If I am getting low on life I will uses some styles with my curved sword. But I have to say, the gaffi opening has worked wonders in improving my soloing capabilities! This is just something I picked up dont know if it will work for you.

just wait till you get master footwork. then the Gaffi becomes a fearsome wespon. you won't have to switch to a curved, and if you get a good damage slice, you can be doing 300-500 damage per second. 1k per second with specials and enough HAM.

health hit 2 is amazing. i had a 1171 bleed on a krayt dragon last night from it alone which makes a big difference on big creatures. plus you can stack the first health bleed with it, making almost 2k worth of bleeds every 15 seconds.

don't forget to play a bit with a good vibro. some love them some don't, but you don't want to miss out in case you're one of the ones who can put it to good use.

hopefully you may like fencing enough to stay with us. good luck, as always.
