Does anyone know for certain, if I were to say... open with lunge and wasn't successful, would there be a timer before I could successfully get a posture change with lunge? And also, the same question applies to dizzy... lol I guess, what I'm asking is, just exactly how does the timer work with our specials?

Seena who never has quite figured that out.....

i read something somewhere about a 5 second knockdown timer?! was i hallucinating? or was this the delay between attempting, but it still only succeeds every 30 seconds? i'm assuming that's how it goes.

and is the posture change character-specific, or weapon specific? what if i change to some other weapon and try a posture change?

(please ignore the following completely extraneous foolishness: when will bar brawls be coded? i want to throw chairs and stools with my free hand! or drinks! and i want to grab someone's collar then pommel-clock them too.)

You mean, by a 5 sec KD timer - the KD lasts only 5 sec? As in a KD flat out on your back? Or does that timer relate to just a posture change to the knees also?

What about dizzy? Is that timed? And is the timer based on your success in scoring dizzy? Or your *attempt* - by that I mean, is the timer in effect whether or not you are successful with landing the dizzy effect?

ack I hope someone can clarify this....

this is what i have noticed with my ranged character, KD lasts 5 seconds, flat on back, if you try again you get message saying you failed to knockdown your target.

However if tey are dizzy, they will continue to fall down until the dizzy wears off, if they try to stand up from the KD.

Now, i do have a fencer quesiton. As i have a apprentice swordsman right now, 90k till i get fencer, do we get a KD?

I look thru the tree and dont see one anywhere, but i guess that doenst mean we get one.

I appriate any help

enough! stop the verbal cyclone! i want to get off this crazy ride.

you have all the same questions i do. i'll put 20 down that Lyahpar is already on it, or at least has some preliminary data.

i can't believe this hasn't been asked earlier. i just get too distracted by other people's questions, i guess. well, we'll see, right?

we don't get a knockdown unless you master the brawler tree. we get a dizzy attack and a posture down attack. that will sometimes knock a target down.

I'll do my best to answer.

Q: Does Dizzy, or our other special status effects (outside of KD/PC effects) suffer from a timer?

A: Not at the current time. Hopefully not in the future either. You can Dizzy and Blind until your heart's content.

Q: What is the 30 second delay timer we keep hearing about? What exactly does it apply to?

A: Any status effect that successfully creates a "delay" on the target (via a Posture Change(Down) or Knockdown) initiates a 30 second timer on that target. During this 30 seconds they cannot be effected by subsequent Posture Change(Down) attacks, or Knockdown attacks. If you attempt to inflict a Posture Change(Down) or Knockdown effect on a target and it does not work (you missed, or get the message "You did not successfully change your target's posture"... or whatever it says) then you can immediately try again. Only the success is timed, not the attempt.

Q: I also heard about a 5 second timer. What's that all about?

A: There used to be a problem where a target that was knocked down or postured down would almost immediately stand back up. The first attempt to repair this glitch made the target stay down far too long... almost indefinitely. Recently a 5 second minimum "down time" timer was implimented. Meaning that targets knockeddown (or that have fallen down from effects of dizzy) would stay flay on their backs for 5 seconds. However we still have to consider the skill "Combat Equalibrium" which is supposed to improve recovery from Knockdown. Whether it reduces the duration of time you can suffer from Knockdown beyond a mandatory 5 seconds, or whether it even reduce your Knockdown time to less than 5 seconds is something I have yet to test. (But I will)

Q: Do Fencers get a Knockdown?

A: Fencers use One-handed weapons. One-handed Lunge 1 and 2 are available in the Brawler profession. One-handed Lunge 1 is a Posture Change(Down) which when combined with a Dizzy and a bit of luck canproduce a "Fall Down", whichbasically produces the same repercussions as a regular Knockdown. One-handed Lunge 2 is a full fledge single-action Knockdown. There is not currently a Knockdown "in the Fencer profession" in the strictest sense.
