Thread: Fencers need new weapons
Hi,
A vibroblade is a better weapon at master level than a gaffi stick. Low HAM, Mediocre Damage, AP1. You are going to feel you will be doing less damage, but you will find out that you might be doing less or equal damage against high level mobs. I use my Gaffi, for bleeding and destroying structures.
You might also consider carrying a stun baton, against a player with composites/ubese, using gaffi is like using chapsticks to attack.
However, you are right about one thing. Our weapons are sorta out of place ... I mean a blademaster carrying a dagger that I understand. But I am always carrying a rusty pipe, a big-fat-electrified-thingie, or a steak knife. ... I wish a vibroblade was a bit longer so we can call it a vibrodagger or even vibrorapier. *shrug* ... or you can call me a "knife master." ... (if you do I will stuff my vibroblade where you won't be able to take it out.)

We definitely need new weapons, as was discussed on another thread. I like the idea of a vibro rapier, though. The devs could make it with high speed and damage, and moderate HAM special costs. If you've ever been to the Force Cave on Dantooine, the NPC's have that long, cool metal sword that's supposed to be released as a limited patch to weaponsmiths soon, but for 2-hand swordsmen. Maybe they'll be nice and make it 1-handed for us fencers?
Now's the time to pester them, LOL!

I'd be happy if they simply switched the gaffi stick and the Rykk blade around graphically and name wise. I'd be thrilled to use a Rykk blade that had the stats of a gaffi stick.
As it stands, I feel more like Sammy Sosa than a 1 handed Swordsman.
Ill have to test out a good vibroblade vs a good gaffi stick. VB has much lower ham costs, so if you are not buffed, a VB would allow more specials and might actually let you do more damage.
I dunno, I promarily use a gaffi, with either a Diseased Janta blade or a VB for specials such as Dizzy and KD (I figure I get atleast a disease DOT out of it if the rest doesnt work).

Also while vibroblade may be the AP weapon we have, using it negates all our speed bonuses. If say I'm doing 1k damage with my pimp stick and it's actually doing 500 damage, that's still more than 300 damage my vibro blade may be doing given with our speed enhancements the pimp stick is striking at about the same speed as the vibro blade.
