Hey all,
I'm a TKM/MBE. Strange combo, I know. I need to retain BE, and amin the process of dropping my limited CH skills in favor of Fencer defenses, but can only get ONE complete line before I max out skill points.
Defenses for TKM are actually pretty weak, and I could benefit from any of the Fencer lines. This is strictly for PVP of course.
- Stances will bring my Melee/Ranged defenses to about the 125 caps.
- Footwork will give me a nice increase in Posture Change and KD defenses
- Techniques will give me decent increases in Blind and Dizzy defense.
- Finesse will just give me a little more Combat Equilibrim. (Not really sure what that does)
I can buff my KD nicely (70-100)with food as needed, but not posture change. I can buff Blind/Dizzy/Melee/Ranged moderatly with food/drink.
Leaning towards the Posture/IKD, as that's what I throw a lot as a TK, but I can get up from a KD, I can't get up from a Dizzy. Or does the chance to get high Melee/Ranged defenses make the decision simple and I'm not giving those defenses enough value?
(Operating under assumption that I won't get Dodge bonus (Tech line) while wielding a VK)
Appreciate any input,
Ehecu

I'd say stances for the sake of hitting the cap on Ranged/Melee defense, or techniques for dodge. Thing is, dodge is only really useful once you have a ton of it, and the same goes for state defenses. My experience: Master Pistoleer state defenses don't do jack, Master Fencer state defenses don't do jack, but Master Pistoleer/Fencer defenses combined make me excessively hard to KD and dizzy. That and techniques gives you melee mitigation...
Anyway, if you're just getting one line, I suggest stances for the melee/ranged defenses, as you already have mitigation and like I said, state defenses and dodge are only good once you have a lot (exponential maybe? I dunno).

Okay!
Sounds like Stances is the way to go. Running the line will give me 131 Melee (125 Cap) and 114 Ranged. From what I've learned from other folks, Melee/Ranged defenses don't prevent you from being hit, but reduce the damage of hits received. (which is what I thought Melee Mitigation does as well?)
I'm a Wookiee, so damage taken is very important to me. Love my armor and love eating 40% Steaks. Can anyone point me to information on the damage mitigated (if that is the right word) by different levels of Melee/Ranged defense?
Sorry for noobish like questions, but never really dove too deeply into combat information before.
Thanks much,
