Thread: What the Fencer board needs.

I believe that a comprehensive guide to being a Fencer is needed on this board/in the general community. A list of what each fencer special does, useful combos, hunting tactics, places of interest, race discussion, weapon discussion, armor, etc. etc. would be EXTREMELY useful in informing the fencer community as well as promoting it's growth. Fencer is one of those obscure professions that many people no little to nothing about and so naturally they never even think of training it. Being new to the game and immidiatly drawn to the fencer class I came here to try and find certain things out...

Now I realise it's easy to say hard to do. A quality guide takes litteraly 100s of hours to compose, in it's place I was thinking perhaps sticky posts on Hunting, one on Specials, Combat tactics, Weapons, etc. where people could write in wisdom would also work (all that info could eventually lead to it's own guide).

Just putting in my 2 cents.

There are a few limitations at the current moment that impede this.

First off, a post can only have 2000 characters which means comprehensive posts have to be broken apart into several individual posts. Invariably, somebody posts inbetween them and interupts the flow.

Second, there are a few individuals out there that argue simply for the sake of argue (it appears) and will find fault with anything you post.

Third, much of the information you propose is in a state of flux, and could soon be changed. This would make the post partially accurate and partially inaccurate. Since we have not been given an edit function, the entire post would have to be redone every time the data changed. We need to reach a point in SWG where we have some stability before this would be very practical.

Don't get me worng though, I agree that such things are helpful. Several such posts have been submitted by myself and others. There are even a few of your suggestions that I am currently working on, or have already done. Look through the posts and I'm sure you'll find them. Your idea definitly has merit, we just have to temper some of our efforts a bit until the information stops changing so rapidly.

Raphayl,

I hope that this point doesn't ever deter you to post what you feel should be posted. You don't owe these people explanations; your precious time here is wasted on them. Especially those who aren't Fencers to begin with, and have personal aggendas and objectives for changing/moulding Fencer in a way that will benefit *them*, and not the entire community as a whole. Someone else echoed my thoughts exactly when they stated that the amount ofwork you are putting into our cause is unbelievable, and that they hope you don't get burned out. Answer what you feel like answering. The rest be damned.

Raph I have been silent through many of your posts, mostly because My english isn't as elaborate as the next.

But beleive me when I say that your work thus far highly praised and widely appriciated. I my self haveben strucken with awe at some of your posts and slyremarks to the few negative and destructive posties that have pestered our community as of late.

What I'm trying to say is, I am in high respect of what you stand for and the good-natured personality and helpfulness that shines throug everything you write.

Yours sensirly and most respectfully

I won't stop posting what I feel needs to be posted, regardless of the trouble. I promised to do my best, and I will. Point #1 is an annoyance, but workable with alittle cooperation. Point #2 is a pain, but part of the territory. (And at times can be fun when they leave themselves open. If someone intends to attack me they better have their ducks in a row.) At this time, point #3 is the only big deterant from creating any large "this encompasses it all" sort of post. All of our issues have been laid out in front of the devs and our turn could very well be next, which could potentially change anything that I would want to detail in that sort of post.

Along the lines of upcoming "fixes", whenever we are wondering "why not us next", keep in mind that some professions have enormous game-breaking bugs right now. Many are in far worse shape than Fencers. Although we are handicapped, we are still at least functional; which is more than can be said for certain professions. Personally, I'm in hopes that the devs go in order of urgency, but they will sometimes take care of the easy problems first just to plow through a larger number of issues. I will be glad when they do finally get around to us, but until then I will still /cheer any profession that gets the help they requested.
