Thread: Ranger Creature to Hit bonuses and Fencer
Raph,
Not sure this is within your area of responsibility. But I have a feeling that it's a non issue with the Rangers. There is a tree in the Ranger profession that *only* gives creature to hit bonuses (which, as I understand it, increase your chances of doing damage in PvE) to ranged weapons. I'm not sure if anyone here besides myself has picked up any Ranger skills.... but this surely was an oversight, and should be fixed!

There is also a bonus to hit creatures in the Scout profession half way up the Hunting branch. It's a accuracy modifier for any weapon (melee or ranged) when targetting a creature. Since Scouts and Rangers are all about hunting and tracking and such, I always thought it seemed in-line with their role. In fact, I made sure I reached that first accuracy bonus in Scout to take advantage of it when hunting creatures.
I can check on it though. What aspect of it seems unbalanced? Are you suggesting something like apenalty to accuracy for non-creature targets to compensate? (It will help how I phrase it to the devs.)

Exactly JJ,
Ranged weapons get the bonus to hit - melee don't. Or at least, that's how the skill's description reads.

Heya Raph,
Not unbalanced, we don't seem to get the bonus at all. Only ranged weapons do!
Seena.. realizes this isn't a priority, and there are tons of other things that are more important. Just a little point to tuck away when things 'settle down' for us. : ))

As a note, the creature to-hit only works on autoattacks, not specials. I'm not certain if it applies to melee attacks, but the ranger board seems to believe it does.
Funny... I posted this same question there, and no such observation was noted. Either way, it is not stated in the description - only ranged attacks are said to benefit.

Well Sir Voor,
Since we didnt get a dodge bonus- I think a to hit bonus is in order.

I think I was wrong about this - I can't find the post that I thought I read this in. It does only work with autofire and not special moves with ranged weapons (also in the description) so it seems reasonable that the description is correct about it applying only to ranged attacks.
