No, this is not an auction (it would be more lucrative to post this on the Eclipsemessage board if it were.)Im just curious as to whether or not such a thing would be beneficial to a Master Fencer. Is there a speed cap, as there is for pistoleers?

Ah, yes...and how much is it worth, if anything?

I'm sure it would sell greatly to someone who is starting the profession... but masters really have no more use for speed. I hit the speed cap with just Footwork IV and a 3.4 speed weapon.

...if you're a Fencer that is.

If you're not then.... er.... it's useless, yeah. That's that ticket. Find a nice Fencer and make his/her day.

Itsa funny story, really...I paid 500k for it, because it was also an armor assembly +8. No one told me multi-mod tapes were broken at the time, and when I dropped the tape onto the shirt, only the +25 1H speed carried over. So I took up Fencer just so I could get SOMETHING out of the deal. But, meh....I dont fight anymore, so I might as well sell it to someone who can put it to good use.

That's what you get for being too rich.

Any relation to phoebus the master surgeon of starsider? (Unlikely, but it happens)

Quoted from above:

Question then, does that make using the higher damage, but slower (and more interesting looking) RyykBlades preferable to the faster almost comparable damage output Curved Swords?

Well if I was a master fencer with a shirt like that I go to the best master weaponsmith I knew, and ask him to make me a high damage/low HAM giffi, and not to worry about speed.

How can you determine speed cap and where you currently are?

The speed cap is always 1.0 seconds. To determine your speed, use this:
speed * (100-speedmod)/100

for a master with a 3.5 gaderiffi, that turns out to be
3.5 * (100-90)/100 = .35 (after cap 1.0)

for a fencer with 50 speed mods and a 2.0 curved:
2.0 * (100-50)/100 = 1.0

Keep in mind, specials have a multiplier for their speed, say 3x. With a 3.5 gaderiffi, a 3x speed special would be run at: 3 * 3.5 * (100-90)/100 = 1.05
