Thread: Recommended Fencer Armor

Any advice on which armor is best for fencers?

Perhaps some ranged armor since our melee def gets higher as we go up? Or perhaps melee armor to just be tank?

I'm not much in PvP if that affects your advice any.

Thanks in advance!

I generally buy only armor with very low HAM reductions, right now I only wear chitin boots.

I just purchased a set of advanced ubese with kinetic layers.. It is 70% kinetic resistant and after getting a full set sliced for encumberance, the ham usage is pretty good. Against monsters, a 85% reduction in damage is always nice.

Even without the layers Advanced Ubese is around 50% Kinetic, get a good slice for HAM and it should be good when up close and personal with most creatures which is where i tend to find myself these days

I think a full set on Tempest comes in at around 80k.

Mostly with armour it depends on the pieces themselves and wether or not you end up killing yourself when spamming specials or it gives more protection than it costs.

Someone once suggested protecting key areas, get just a helmet to protect against mindshots etc.. I have no idea how sound that theory is though as I havent had the funds to really test it.

I find that when I'm fighting the higher level creatures, any weaknesses in my armor will get me killed quickly. All it takes is a couple lucky hits to the spots you have no armor.

Hi,

I think you guys are being too paranoid about HAM stuff. I don't see much difference when I am using High% Chitin and 50% Composite (glove, chest plate, boots, helm only). When I am adventuring I get fair share of head-on's with thugs who tend to use range weapons. I feel much safer with composites.

Note, however, that with chitin, you can go full-armor. This may be a great advantage for certain situations.

Lastly, I put on armors only when needed. It makes very little sense to keep on the armor 24/7. I think higher level you go, less components you need. I needed bracers and leggings also, but I don't need them now.

I recomend no armor except for the force shields...but that just my thought.

Since you dont pvp, it might be too costly and not worth buying an advanced composite suit.. Though armor is very helpful against unexpected attacks

I wear low encombrance 70% kenetic Ubese, but I want to upgrade to krayt composite sometime. For a general all around protection.

Okay, I have been working on what armors work well in pvp, to pve. It all depends on what your going to do. If your gonna be just using armor for PVE, then heaiver armors work well once spliced an are made of high quality. It all depends on how much ham usage you want to use in fighting monsters per swing so to speak.

Now if your looking for armor that is the lightest, less restricting you can get that doesnt hinder you much in PVP. Rancor Enhansed tantel armor is the best I ever come across. I have yet to use Kryat or get my hands on that Kryat enhanse version if it exists but I know for a fact rancor enhansed is one of the best lowest ham costs armors that protect all resistances. As for a helm uberise with high heat resistances works well when fighting commandos.. Currently working with chibba on shadowfire for a very light weight, low ham costs helmit designed to snuff out eye shotting players with a scatter pistol. Let ya know what I come across

Tantel Chest plate
29 Engery
18 Fire
14 kentic
17 *all other resistances*
Encumberance
75
21
12

*this armor was spliced*
Adds +3pts to using specials
Seams to take far greater beating as its durablity lasts much longer then standard tantel.

When I can afford armour I'll get armour, but for now I fence wearing nothing but a wrapped black skirt.

I did make myself a full set of bone armour yesterday, just to see how well would do since I was just trained in Engineer IV... It's the best I've ever seen, allowing for the fact its got the most basic components O_o

I recently bought a set of bone armor with some darn low encumberance..it does the job of protecting me quite well. Although it is only really good for protecting me from energy weapons, it still gives me an armor rating of 1, which is nice to have. I have yet to get it sliced, though..which can only mean good things for the encumberance in the future
