Thread: Why do you wear or not wear armor in pve?
Only thing I have to worry about is my mind and I take my helm off when I need to regen my mind.
Same here. composite, always buffed, take helm off to regen mind. Works for me. If that's not fast enough, I've got equilibrium and muon gold.
The other night I was messing around with spices and whatnot. With Master Doctor buffs, TKA Powerboost and a shot of Neutron Pixie, My health bar was at 4300! With the right food, I can get it a good bit higher. I sooo wanted to go beat down Krayts with that kind of health but we ended up going to Fort Tusken instead.
I have two suits of armor, advanced ubese with 70% kinetic resist and a partial suit of composite armor.
The ubese is helpful if you are Tanking MOBs but i would advise against too much specials use. Even sliced and buffed it becomes difficult to regen. I also use it sometimes whenon a mountsince you can't use specials anyway and can help you dictate when you fight. However, most NPC and MOB fights don't require it since they fixed Dodge.
I use the chest plate, pants and helmet of an Advanced Composite suit. I have found i don't need the rest. All three pieces are sliced for encumbrance.I use these for PVP. The helmet has 80% acid resist everything else in the the upper 60s.
Hi,
I sometimes where an armor and sometimes I don't for PVE. Then main reason for wearing armor at high level fencer is to keep wounds (not damage) at minimum. The likelihood of being hit is fairly low at high level. However, from high level mobs, if you are hit, it is likely that you will get "wounds" leaving you with BF and lower stats.
I do high turn over soloPVE hunts; usually white dots and up. (very profitable I might add) In my situation, being stuck with BF and wounds slow me down. So you will see me wearing armor on my hunts. However, for casual encounters with easy mobs (1 or 2 white or yellow dots), I find it easier to keep the encumberance down and using specials to bring them down in a short period of time.
If you have pets to keep the mob distracted, you should take off the armor. Then strike fast and clean before they notice you or your pet dies.
One last thing, you should not wear armor all the time. Have clothes to change into after "close encounters." You will get faster recovery and if you are fencer, there are times you may not need armor anyways. It doesn't make sense to encumber yourself unnecessarily.
I use a set of composites, but only helmet, chest plate, boots, and gloves. If you check the decay of the components, you will see chest plate and boots decay faster in PvE. I don't get hit too much on my arms. Helmet is a must because you can't heal minds. I considered buying Ubese, but for my PvE hunts, I meet more laser fires.(You may use shield gen, but they decay fast.)

Mabari is good against generic kinetic MOBs. Not perfect, but 50% off is still 50% off.
For difficult planets, I tend to wear an ubese/chiton mix. The chiton does not quite come up to composite, but the HAM hit is less. With a doctor buff, I can take on lots of tougher critters without using specials.
I don't claim that my strategies are perfect, but I'm halfway up now and they seem to work fine.

off topic: Rro, how do you fare against the ancient bull rancors?
Ialso have a suit of ubese. I use them both about equally now depending on what I'm fighting. The ubese just wears out a heck of a lot quicker. My ubese is only 65% kinetic but it's still better than composite against melee opponents. Lot better encumberance with the Ubese though thanks to fewer pieces. I've got a composite helm with less encumberance than my Ubese helm. 189 mind. Great slice.
Ancient bulls? well... I wish those were a bit more common. It's been a while since I've even seen one but as long as they dont disease me, they will fall over and die pretty much like everything else that gets in my way.
I would like to find another one and try my luck again but I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. I've gota new gamesitting in front of me and I'm anxiously waiting for quitting time. 1 more hour.....
i did about 4 ancient bulls the other day and won twice. just wondering how i'm stacking against you for no reason at all.
the helm is killer, i would wear it with the ubese set.
i still haven't gotten KOTOR yet, even. sigh. but i'm already off of work and playing. eat that, crazy.
yeah thats pretty much what I do since the Ubese helm is kinda funny looking.
KOTOR is great but I was actually referring to Horizons. If it's as good as I'm hearing, I will probably enjoy it a lot better than I have SWG. I mean... Fencing has been great, and I've got some great friends in the game and a couple here in the forum as well, but thisisn't the Star Wars I grew up with. It looks like it, and sounds like it, but that's where it ends.
I have a set of composite with 71% special kinetic protection, base effectiveness on the rest is 55%. Most of the slices came out for encumberance which is nice. What prompted this is that I had a hard time on my server finding Ubese with anythign above 65% special protection. If you are on Flurry talk to Tobar and tell him Sebca sent ya hehe. Maji on Flurry also has high Kinetic-resist composite, she's a bit more expensive though.
I tend to wear the helmet even when I don't wear the rest of the set on easy mobs. On stuff that I know is going to hit me alot I wear the whole set. I haven't PVP'd much but I tried it with and without the armor and I've mostly had problems with bounty hunters, with or without Armor. I bought a "anti-bounty hunter" helmet (from Jaato on Flurry) with high 70% acid and electric special protection and 65-ish to everythign else. So far my tactics and reaction times I think will make more difference than what I'm wearing in PVP. Also Stun Baton > graul mauler.
that sounds like some nice composite.
a special anti-bountyhunter helm you say? hmmm methinks I need to talk to ol' Buckaroo about such a thing.
