Fencer Archive

It was a really fun PvE combo for me. I wanted to try commando for a little while, not so much as a long-term template, but while I was working my way towardMaster Fencer, I used my skill points on commando boxes, which were easy to fill. I think I wound up with around 2-3-4-2 before dropping it.

As is the case with any commando template, if you're going to dabble, get flamethrower IV. I honestly did try the other trees but really never used them. You can have Master Fencer, Commando 0-0-4-0 and still have a lot of room for pistoleer, scout, or medic, I would strongly recommend pistoleer. I believe Master Brawler is also an option, but I found medic to be indispensible in this template. However, this is going back 8 months or more and I never buffed back then. Also, scout was a requirement as there were no vehicles or mounts back then. Things are much more open now.

My fights would go something like this: try to get all my opponents within 16m and flame cone, then spin attack until the DoT killed them. The one weak point was the delay-- I don't really recall the exact details, but after using a flame special, there was a delay in which you can't do anything including heal or change weapons. Again, not being buffed, it was touch and go in some situations, but once you were free to switch to fencer and use spin attacks, you were pretty much home free as the DoT was going to work.

Solo was a little chaotic, but fun-- being in a group or having tank pets was really fun because once you got the fire DoT in you could jump into the fight as a fencer.

PvP was not very successful, especially solo, but that was before Center of Being and the increased defenses, and I was not a master fencer at the time. Now-- I think you would be pretty decent if you relied mostly on fencer, but worked either TKA or Pistoleer into the template.

I mostly did it just to try all the weapons. If you get sick of it, you will be so capped on combat xp that you can start in on another profession pretty easily.
