I am looking for advice from the Fencer community.

I am currently have the following professions and I am looking for a PVE template:

Master Swordsman

Master Rifleman

Teras Kasi 4-0-0-4

Medic 1-0-0-0

I was thinking on going for a pure meleetemplate and was wondering if I should go for Fencer .. or even Pikeman. What do you guys think? Or, should I keep what I currently have?

Well if you have master swordsman then go for fencer, because Pike offers sod all in defenses and you'd only use swordsman in PvP (I have been all the melee profs and found swordsman to be the most effective unless you come up against something with 100% resists to kin and blast)

Ischaria is right, Fencer will get you the most Def Vs states, TKM actually gives more Melee/ranged defense I think, im not positive on that.

Eather one doesnt matter, Melee/ranged defense plays so little a part in BIG GAME (Elder, Krayt, Ackley, HIgh mobs) fighting that it shouldnt really even be factored in.

What I would do, if I were you, is try to master Brawler for two reasons (PvE) the extra +5 Toughness (Thats 5% dmg reduction, to those that dont know what toughness does) and Intimidate 2, it lasts alot longer, and sticks more then Intim 1 (For the 'garuntee stick' get a bio-engied warcry/intim shirt, works wonders)

for PVE, Swordsman is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best fighting profession for DAMAGE OUTPUT (Unless, you go aginst a 100% kin/blast and vun stun mob, but being realistic.. swordsman)

Pikeman may be classified as 2nd best, you need looted pikes to TRULY be effective, as well as (Atleast) +10 speed to cap[asuming your master brawler]. The other major draw-back is Pikemans ap2 is Kinetic, one of (or the?) most common damage types, so mobs may scale that resist higher then say, blast, or electricity. (Ex of this, Juvy krayt, 60% to Kinetic and 2 others, 15% to blast/elect/the rest, Medium armor.)

Tkm is great on light mobs (tuskins, lower NS's- Non-elder -rancors, etc) but lacks the high-end damage power of swordsman.

Fencer comes in at the bottom of the PvE pole, having virtually no effective AP (A 200 max vibro does NOT mean you will do more then a gaffi, you need to find the average to ditermine if using your 'uber vibroblade' is worth it. Im yet to see one that is, aginst my standard ackley bones gaffis and high-end Geo gaffis).

Aginst Humanoids (Stormtroopers, factional NPCs, Tuskins, Even rancors) we do medoker, Do really well aginst jantas and such, most of them are vunerable to stun. But anything with medium AP, or depending on how powerful, light armor, is prety-much an Out-Of-The-Question OR it will take 40 minutes..

Now, all of that is for PvE, if you want PvP, whole different ball game.

Swordsman is best PvE for Melee, Rifleman for ranged. Pikeman and Carbineer follow that in 2nd place.

Imho, youll get more milage out of Master Brawler, then you will out of mastering another profession.

Note 2: Pikemans defense tree is the best point-for-point in def vs states (one tree, whole deal) for for melee classes. Pistolierre for ranged (technique line).

That said, any more questions, feel free to send me a PM, and we can chat or if you want, get on teamspeak. My guild is quite knowledgable about PvE and that sort of template,im sure we can offer more information then iv said=)

currently i'm master pikeman and master fencer and i absolutely hate pikeman. Though i hear if you can max out on your speed by getting it up to 90 or so though SEA's then its a whole new ball park. I don't think i'll keep it long enough to find out though.
