I am currently wearing clothing but have been contemplating wearing armor. Any suggestions on what type of armor to look for or that you have been successful with in battle?

I currently equip ubese chest armor, a padded left arm bracer and a decent pair of boots. In the combat window it seems that the boots and the bracer take the bulk of the hits. I tried removing the chest armor and found that I died quicker, so it must be doing something. I also lost my boots over the weekend when i tried to repair them. So i went outside the city without any equipped and did notice a big difference in battling some lord nax followers. I went back to coronet, via my last clone, and picked up a new pair, shuttled my way north and went back to kill some more of them to see if the boots really mattered, they did. As for wearing the left bracer, I am undecided if it makes that much of a difference. It seems that the display tells me that my left bracer prevented 5 damage, so I did not figure out the math to see if saving 5 damage ended up costing more elsewhere in keeping it on.

I did wear primary kinetic preventing armor for a while and noticed that taking all the armor off when fighting imperial troopers helped a little. But with the new boots and chest armor i'm using it seems to work good against their blasters.

For the longest time i walked around without any armor, best bet is to try one piece at a time. If you load up your character with a helmet, bracers, boots and chest armor you'll use up all your HAM and be flattened by a gubber before you land your second hit. Well, not really but you'll see what i'm saying if you try it.Just watch what you buy, the stuff on the markets for 3000 credits is usually worthless for fencing (my experience) I've had much better luck buying from armorsmith vendors and having the stuff sliced. I did get lucky with my 1000 credit boots off the market. I got them sliced for free and they are probably my best defence at this point.

i just wish i could figure out the combat logic that would make my boots absorb more damage than the chest armor.

I use advanced padded, 52% or higher on the boots, legs and chest vs kenetic. This hampers my specials but I usually just flip on berserk and settle for the 500 damage per hit.

I have 3 full suits of armor.

2 of those suits are Advanced Composite and are great for PVP against ranged guys (when the PVP works)and high level NPCs that like to shoot your mind out from far away.

The other set is Ubese with 65-66% kinetic resistance which is awesome for PVP against other melee guys and most creatures in the game.

I will have a full suit of RIS armor as soon as my armorsmith finishes the quest when it becomes available and we gather the needed materials.

Would like to try a full suit of padded as well.

I wear ubese... and it barely works... but it works somewhat so losing about 5% of the damage I take has to be worth it in some way :\

It's 30% kinetic, bracers chest helmet... I'm a trandoshan so those magical boots of yours are not an option for me, I must accept having my legs hacked off.

I wear a set of %74 kinetic resist ubese, comes in very handy. I never really did an armor macro, instead I just put my armor in my second toolbar pane, top row. I put my regular clothing on the second row of that, which allows me to totally swap out in about 6 seconds.

I did the same as norstar with the toolbar.

Then I added a macro to save pressing all thjose buttons Then I tied it to a key press, then added switching to the clothing/armour pane and back to my main pane to the macro. Now it all just switches on the click of a button.

Can be very handy, although feels a bit wrong, so I tend to use it before or after fights rather than during Saves on the toolbar hopping...

I have a full set of Ubese which, once sliced, is fantastic when out hunting creatures or fighting most melee types, it is a real lifesaver in tight situations.
