Thread: Two Fencing Complaints
Sorry im not sure if these were addressed yet but i sort of lost track of my sanity after the fifth page of threads
ok 1: for people with ranged attacks. its a real drag in a duel to be stronger than someone and get killed when they just run and shoot we need something (like taunt wich never seems to work) that would root them to the ground for 10 seconds.
and 2: y'know the sword thats supposed to be one of our best... yeah the rantok... have any of you EVER seen one? master weaponsmiths cant make em and the only way to get one is a jabba mission where you take it from a blue ''drum''... its horrible im assuming this is to keep people from stealing it (hell i stole it anyway just so i could use it like a uniformal weapon) anyway. would someone with connections mind sort of giving the dev's a hint at the fact that one of our best (and to me the best looking) weapons is unuseable?
btw... I LOVE BEING ABLE TO TANK!!! (on that note thanks devs)
The only rantok sword in game is given out by the final mission (or close) in Jabba's Palace. It sucks though, so don't try and get it unless you just want to do the missions for a theme park.
But I do agree that we need some sort of root attack or special that makes them stop for atleast 10 seconds. That way we can catch up, possibly dizzy/lunge, or do a few big specials and just take them out. This is why I resorted to using pets in GCW battles, because everyone runs.
Hi,
I think its a trophy. I have it in my house and occassionally entertain my clients with it. (I am a dancer) As for damage, the base damage merely go up to 150 and it has no AP. So I wouldn't bother getting it. Personally, it didn't look so cool, I would seriously doubt thelogic of the coders. Coding an item into this vast game is not a simple feat. If one were to code it in, it must have some crucial meanings (more than just cool looking). So I think it will have some significant (non-combat) meaning to the Rantok Sword.
As matter of fact, our best weapons are first, second, and third tier weapons. Some people use very very good stun baton, but I haven't found a good one to use all the time.
As for getting kited, it makes some sense. Think about it? Why, in real life, police men use Guns instead of becoming uber-martial-artists? It's because no matter how skilled you are, bullet can plug you real good. It comes down to whether if you can inflitrate the field of fire by grappling the gun etc.... I think it is good the way it is. We are so uber we can ... dodge bullets already. What else do we need? Dagger of Death? I am not playing the game because I wanna be godly.

Currently the Rantok sword, although usable, it meant to just be a trophy. However, I am trying to convince the Devs to let it... or a version of it... be craftable. For now, the Gaderiffi Baton, Stun Baton, and Vibroblade are your best bets.
As for the kiting issue, yes it's a pain. I know about, the Devs know about it, everybody knows about it. There are some things you can do about it if you have the blessing of selecting your fighting environment. Use the terrain to your advantage. Know what the various Traps can do. Fight in close quarters if you can. Put on your armor while you are closing, even if you don't fight in it. Remember BurstRun. Fight as a duo with another melee and learn how to force the kiter between you. Pray.
The Devs are only going to do so much about this. It's the only true advantage ranged have over melee, and if we have something that can counter it 100% of the time, then ranged wouldn't have much of a chance. Still, we are all trying to come up with a way to avoid it being so one-sided. A big step was getting Dodge boosted about 7-fold, and Center-of-Being.
Hmm....I have an opinion / suggestion on this kiting issue. We do not need a root attack. coz' that is the only advantage range have over melee. I know it is a pain. but eveyone is like trying to make fencer the godly profession. NO offensive, but in the game, we are looking for BALANCE of each profession.
the solution i thought of is making range player accuracy while running lower. so even though they can kite, they will miss a lot more. But i guess the CoB fixed this.
CoB + burst run : I think this is a good enough counter for kiters.
well the two suggestions i liked
the two person raptor technique from jerrasic park and the burst run
for the two person : im not doing this to actually kill them (sure if im overt it might be a good idea) but im dueling to test my strength against someone else
for the burst run: maybe for duels you could get a burst run and when the duels over your normal burst run timer would return to normal the reason being dont want to waste the thing i only get every ten minutes when the reason i duel a lot of times is i want to test my strength when were waiting in a camp for someones wounds to heal or for everyones burst run to go up (sorry if thats a little confusing)
