Thread: Let's give the dev's a round of applause.
Let's give them a round of applause for FINALLY doing something for someone aside from bounty hunter or teras kasi. We can now actually attacking people who are running with dizzy and blind and such instead of getting the sh-t kicked out of us
Also, The CoB is amazing, I can go toe to toe with a teras kasi master and I have very few skills in fencer.
But there is also one thing the devs SERIOUSLY need to think about. Our HAM costs. That is the number one thing that is currently wrong with fencers, We can't have any diversity within weapons because our speedcompletely annihilates our HAM, Just doing a single dizzy and knockdown tends to take quite a bit off my health with a gaderiffi baton, even with a health attachment. As well as warcry 2, When i use that it is insane that it hardly ever sticks and it takes -230 HAM just to use per turn. You are really backing us into a corner and we're going to start busting through the walls if you don't give us some breathing room.
Granted, I have gone UNDEFEATED today in 13 duels by anyone ranging from master bounty hunter to master pistoleer and teras kasi master, But most of them were cutting it too close for comfort. So please, Atleast give a thought toward decreasing our ham costs or maybe giving us alittle more power for the cost
your not suppose to spam specials... the games not ment too...
lower HAMs would be nice but... meh.... i could live without it....
just use beserk more often

Where did you read that? However, I do agree. Yet it is currently the only way to balance out the loss of so much damage due to the 1.0 speed cap. This is an issue currently being worked on.
Isee that you are a 1-1-1-1 Fencer. I'm not knocking that in the least... welcome aboard! But it does explain why you feel using Berserk is so effective. Back when Berserk used to be a multiplier to damage, it scaled with the damage out the Fencer and weapon. It was as useful at lower skill levels as it was at higher levels. However, since you can not perform any specials while Berserk, it was also very limiting if you suddenly needed to perform one. Once Berserk was changed to a flat rate of +75 damage, it ceased to be effective at higher skill levels under most circumstances, and can even get you killed since it was boosted in duration and for all that time you cannot perform a special. Need that Blind, or Knockdown? Too bad... you're Berserk. Three of your target's buddies just jumped you, and you really wish you could do an area attack? Too bad... you're Berserk. At lower skill level you don't have that many effective specials you can to perform, so you wouldn't see the loss really. If Berserk didn't have the limitations on it... or if you could drop it if you really needed to, then it wouldn't be a bad way to up damage a bit.
I also see that you have CH and Medic to back you up. That makes a hugh difference as well. Many Fencers have a bit of pride and don't want to have to have an animal tank for them. Hmm... that didn't come out right. Pride isn't really the word I'm looking for, as it insinuates that melees who let animals take their punishement don't have pride... which I'm sure many do. Perhaps "melee pride" is a better term... it means a melee feels the real thrill of being a melee by being up there toe-to-toe exchanging blows with their opponent. It what makes being a melee profession fun for most of us. If I wanted a creature to take the damage so I wouldn't have to, I might as well pick up a ranged weapon and kite stuff around. It all just comes down to a point of view (neither being "right" or "wrong".)
My point being that without a creature soaking up the attacks, or being there to distract adds, or to just add a bit more damage, it puts a lot more burden on a Fencer's HAM. This is the situation for a vast majority of Fencers.
I also note that you are closing in on Master Medic. Congratulations! Beign a Medic really takes the sting out of non-mind HAM costs, so again I can see where you might not see the situation of "the common Fencer". Personally, I think a melee that doens't have at least rudimentary medic skills is nuts! I highly recommend at least getting enough Medic skills to possess First Aid to cure Bleeds, and the ability to use at least StimBs. Still, some Fencers don't. They spend their skills on other melee profession skill boxes to become "tougher" melees.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Fencer profession changes dramatically as you climb the Fencer skills ladders, and based upon your other available skills in the game. What works well for you will not be the universal answer for all Fencers. We certainly do welcome your opinions and advice, but any advice given that are biasedby skills outsideof Fencer is usally only going to work for those Fencers with a similar skill makeup, and hunting stituations.
Sorry, for being so wording, and I apologize for making this sound like a lecture... it wasn't meant to be. Just trying to help you see a bigger picture. ![]()

i'm super happy for you guys to have gotten some needed attention from the devs. I'm just curious though what exactly has ever been done to help bounty hunters? Could you name one thing? The attempts to fix white dot marks that don't work doesn't count, the fact they said invesitgation and money would be upped this patch and it wasn't.. that doesn't count either.
First off, Thanks for the support!
It's been a long road, and this is the first time Fencers have gotten anything worth cheering about. I'm glad to know you don't begrudge us for finally edging our way into the sunlight.
As for your BH concerns, your best bet would be to ask these questions in the BH forum, or to contact your Correspondent, Wepps, directly. I do know that Wepps is constantly active on the Correspondent forum fighting for your issues, as if on some kind of holy crusade. The Devs can only tackle so much at once... and even when they agree there is a problem, theyonly decide what should be done to fix it. The programmers, not the Devs, implement the coding. Sometimes it's not that simple to track down what causes certain software issues when there's 5 billion lines of code. My point is that is isn't always the Dev's fault when things aren't addressed immediately. They do design the game, and make the choices as to how things should be... but it still comes down to a guy sitting alone in a dark cubical somewhere hacking away at tiny lines of code to make it happen. Hehehe.
Best of luck with the Bounter Hunter Issues, I hope the are fixed soon. WithWepps on the job representing the profession I'm sure they will be.
