I wanted to master the scout tree, so I incoporated the use of trapsinto my tactics.I must say even thoughtraps need tobe looked at by the DEV team, the idea behind their use in battleisan excellent one andprettyfun I might add.

Benefits

First; The Wire Mesh Trap iseasy to make in the field with just bone and hide.

Second; For those who do not have a ranged skill and have the scout skill, it is easy to pick up and provides a pulling abilityand/or something to do while running to the target

Third;byusingthe mesh trapto pull,Iam rewarded withthe big words MELEE DEFENCES ARE DOWN, the target being easier to hit anda neat littlelight show. Now granted I am easily entertained, but to me that is justallkinds ofcool.

I do have a question. I have noticed thatcritters in the high 40s are almost impossible to hit with my current trap skill of 2, if I go up to 4 will I have a chance to hit critters in their 60s or would I have to advance to Ranger to make this happen? Also, If anyone has done any stat collecting on this skill, please post your findings.

I've always used traps, i'm at 4 in the trap tree and use the Glowing Wire Mesh trap (- Defense for Melee and Ranged). I've noticed that at ealier lvls of Fencing that they helped alot but are becoming less apparent the higher i go in the Fencing tree.

I agree the are good for pulling creatures towards you, but beware of the "Hmm, i missed with that one" then seeing all of the creatures buddies charge at you while the one you targeted is enjoying the skyline.

I'd say stick with them until your a medium lvl Fencer, then decide whether it's worthwhile keeping them or not.

Yeah, I was worriedthat traps fizzle out at higher levels, but was hoping I would be wrong. I guess thats what the ranger skill tree is for. I am going to play it up to Master Scout (Trap +20) to see how far itwill take me.

Anyone else have any tips to share with regards to using traps??

The mesh traps (glowing wire, and non) are both great things to apply to a big mob before you begin fighting. If it doesn't take... well, you had meant to fight it anyways. If it does, then BINGO!

I also take advantage of some fo the darts. One stops a kiting or charging critter in their tracks. They can still fight melee... but they can't run. This helps alot.

Oh, and yes, the higher you make it up the trapping branchm the higher your proficiency with atrap. To get more specific "odds" you might visit the Scout/Ranger forum. They will likely have better data on that.
