The rantok is a decoration as it is now. Absolutely craptacular. The Rykk is just outclassed by the curved sword. Your best bet is to do footwork 4 first, then what I did was alternate the other two trees while going up finesse.

Use a speed sliced curved up until footwork 3, then a damage sliced gaffi. On Kettemoor, anything over 290 max damage (sliced) on a gaffi is good. They cap at a natural 220 max here. Stuns save for a mob with VERY high kinetic resists AND is stun vulnerable, or PvP vs composite wearers.. Anything else isn't worth it. it's a AP0 weapon with a max of 160 damageand horrible mind costs. You figure it out.

Hey guys, I just picked up Fencer. I got bored with Master BH, and Carbineer, and I had never played melee. And I though Fencer would be fun to try, as well as the immense defense it provides. Still, I will likely remain fencer even when they cap defenses as I am having quite a bit of fun with it, and it has a lot of "character" so to speak. I especially like the animations.

So far I'm just 0/1/0/0, but I am wondering what are the best trees to level up first? I was planning first on Footwork then Stances and Grips, while concurrently leveling up the Finesse tree. Sound good?

Also, I'm currently using the following:

Vibroblade (59-191 @ 2.6)

Rykk (99-227 @ 2.4)

Gaffi (126-212 @ 2.8)

I know my Gaffi isn't the best so I am going to try and get a new one. I also need a good Stun Baton. It's too bad they nerfed the Acklay weapons. Are the Rantok swords worth aquiring? Where can I get one? I got one during a Jabba quest but it was taken away Also, are there plans to add any more traditional looking swords? The Rantok was ok but I don't like the Scimitar looking Rykk, and the Vibroblade is too knifish! LOL. I know that's a common complaint though.

Anyways, thanks for answering my questions.

Hey all. I wanted to bump the questionthat refersto the most effective way to move up the rest of the branches after attaining footwork4. After I hit 0400,should I go 1411 or concentrate on just one branch again?

Obviously this is a matter of opinion but I'd like to hear some of your thoughts....

I looked for a thread on this or a faq and wasn't very successful

Thanks

Go up techniques for the defenses. The finesse tree do also (it is combat exp). The first tree is nice for melee and range defences but when you are leveling, the CoB is enough to keep you from being hit (up to pikets, highest I did tried it against).

What the others said, go up footwork 4 first, I used a curved sword as it was the fastest. Once there, switch to a damage sliced gaffi stick.
