Ok, i've been fighting with blades since september, made master in early december and absolutely love fencing, but its time for change.
I'm curious if anyone can tell me what the transition from fencer to bounty hunter will be like. In the past 3 months i've managed to solo a few kimos, those 70k ham Blurgs and a bunch of other things. I'm going to be slowly dismantling the fencer tree to swap points for BH and already know the order i'm going in. So I don't need advice about that.
What I'm curious is to hear comments about anyone that has come to fencer from BH. And what the main differences are.
I'm not looking to be some uber fighter in this game, i've never been the "god" template chaser. I'm just curious what to expect.

I'd guess that the play style is very different. You're going from a defensive profession to an offensive profession. That is a mindset change as well as profession.

I appreciate the help guys, I read a lot about the investigation tree being a real drag, but didn't know the tip about maxing the xp on it, thanks ![]()
I do have good armor, bought a suit not long ago with real low HAM, now i'm working on the stat migration, this is a lot of work...

I came to fencer from 2444 BH, I would strongly urge you not to do it if you want to be able to beat the things you can beat as a Fencer. I am only 1402 Fencer and can beat things that I never would have dreamed of as a BH. Jedi missions are broken (even though I never got to invest 3 to test it out myself), BH have less defence than a master Dancer and most of the specials are not that good or broken.
If you do decied to do it though - Tyrena is a better place to level investigation, as it is generally less laggy (on Starsider at least). Follow the advice about capping xp given further up - it will save you a lot of hassle.
Good luck on whatever you choose to do!

Thanks for telling me about things being harder to kill. I read a post about 3 months ago (when I started thinkin about BH) and it was talking about how hard it was to kill desert squill on tatooine. I'm not sure what they con for you, but at blademaster they are blue (or lt blue). The BH boards were saying that they are red, even for master BH. I have trouble thinking we were talking about the same things and turned out we were.
I'm not expecting to be a better fighter out of this either, I fully understand that BH is not really a great profession if you want to take out crazy hard creatures, but I had my fun with that already. I soloed things with fencer that I never thought would be possible to solo with any profession. I also took out my share of BH's in PvP with fencer.
I can't explain, something about BH is calling me and I gotta run with it. After that I will probably come right back to fencer.

all I can say...after having done BH myself...Investigation is gonna suck!
start by leveling out all the weapons to max...go 0444...this will help you in the long run on investigation....
Second...when you begin doing investigation xp, go to coronet...at the city hall are bh terminals and spynet ops....you can stand between them and get missions and talk to the spynet to get a WP...if its not withing 500m...drop it and get another...repeat untill you get a mission.
Now...save ALL investigation XP that you get...do not learn investigation at all untill you cap the xp pool...I think its somewhere close to 10k xp...This will allow you to get level 1 and 2 and part of level 3...trust me...this is a huge time saver...and then after that....spend the next 2 weeks doing nothing but watching shuttles take off....as you will kill your mark in under 10 seconds...but you'll spend 1 hour per mission....shuttle times and tracking =(.
And at investigation 3....find a jedi that wants to get on the terminals that you know...and kill him =)

BH excels at killing people. If you want to kill creatures fast BH is not the way to go, although the LLC packs a nasty punch.

i came from BH to fencer and i was suprised about how much more effective fencer is, damage, dodge...if you do PvP BH is not that good anymore partly because there are many bounty hunters. also if you're gonna become one expect a lot of "oh another bounty hunter...great" remarks, if u run around with the title showing or LLC out....

Get ready to not be able to solo anything semi-hard without a pet, because BHs have no defenses. And the pets you can get with minimal points invested in CH suck now, so get ready to not be able to solo anything semi-hard at all.

I left BH at 3444 with one invest mission left to go... realized what a waste all those skill points are. They lock you into a profession that really isn't thatpowerful or enjoyable. The only real way to survive a PvP fight with BH is to level up pistol techniques to 4 and buy yourself the best composite you can find. Get used to feeling like a dead fish cause you won't be taking it off all that often if you like staying on your feet, and start putting away for buffs now. Some extra money for muon/brandy is also essential.

Yep, I bet a lot of us are coming from BH. I was Master BH 3/0/4/0 pistoleer, and I couldn't kill a thing. I kept having to buy armor, all these guns....PvE was a drag, and PvP wasn't all that great either. I come to fencer now to make up for my PvP losses and my PvE losses, I also didn't think BH was correct, I mean...there is no "Bounty Hunting" persay. It's just a filthy ass grind that made me so fuggin angry, hopefully for you their fixing it.

Wow you people are such downers lol...
I was a BH 0-4-0-0 Carbineer 2-4-4-4 and some other random crap. I could easily solo lairs of enraged rancors, sure there are MUCH tougher mobs but do we REALLY need to be able to solo them?
My friend was a BH 0-0-4-0 master pistoleer, we soloed lairs of ancient bull rancors with taking a hit... I could kill TKMs regularly in PvP, and my friend owned quite a few riflemen. BHis only as good as the skill you put into it. Although I would have to say, on its OWN, master BH is lacking in speed and accuracy... he's got some of the nicest attacks though.
