Thread: Novice Fencer question
I recently became novice fencer, and I have a few questions that has been nagging me greatly:
- I have been been having a lot of problems deciding which stats to increase and which to decrease using migration.
I'm a Zabrak novice fencer wearing no armor what so ever.
- Then I'd like to know exately what the Center of Being ability does. And in which situations to use it.
When I use it I can't seem to attack without disrupting it.
- Is it worth it to wear armor? I've heard several times that it's a great advantage not to, but the nagain I've seen a lot of fencers using it.
And last but not least. Is it just me, or is the curved blade far superior to any other one handed blade out there? I know, I can't seem to find any better.
And, yes, I have read the FAQ, but it didn't really answer any of my questions. (:
I did try accessing the "Center of Being" and "Armor. Is it worth it?" FAQ. But it just lead me out to the main site.
Center of Being raises your defensive stats (melee/ranged def, dodge) for a short period of time. As you move upthefootwork lineyou get more of a bonus, and it lasts longer. I use this ability every time I go into battle, the moment my opponent starts attacking I turn it on. It lasts several seconds at footwork 4.
I only wear armor in PvP, because the battles are short, and I don't have to worry about the cost of special attacks as much. I have stim-packs to keep me alive in PvE ![]()
The curved sword is a good weapon until you get to footwork 4. After footwork 4 I started using the gaffi stick because it does better dmg and I attack just as fast as I did with the curved. But, it (gaffi) does have a high health cost, so I sometimes use the vibroblade to conserve my HAM. The curved sword hurts my mind too much for regular use.
But what about the first question?
What am I supposed to do with my stats? Which stats should I migrate to what level? Which are most taxing?
There must be some veteran fencer out there who has the answer to this question. Right? ;D
I have to: Run, Run, Run, Peace, Peace, Peace, Heal, Heal, Heal. And I usually either pull out too late, or just die anyway.
Quite frustrating.

center of being is very useful at the later levels of footwork, and I tend to use it right BEFORE a battle, that way I know its working throughout the battle.
for grinding, I got a good suit of ubese armor and would run up to creatures, place a good health hit 2, blind 2, and then just tank it. center of being doesnt last very long till master footwork, and with armor it doesnt make up for the HAM costs. just take the hits, with the armor and the blind, you wont get hit often and when you do, it wont do much damage.
the stats are up to you. if you intend on getting buffed before each fight and have medic for healing, you might want to get less health and action secondaries and pump up your mind stats. also, food/spices help a lot, especially muon, fishack, and bivoli tempari (all together, it adds for about +1200 mind and +500 focus/willpower). just tough it out, you'll get master in no time.

Okay, just became a novice fencer and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what kind of armour I should wear. Also, is a stun baton better than a gaf stick ?
As far as the armor goes, it's all preference. Composite is great but expensive, Ubese is good for the grind.
As for the weapon choice, depends on if the creature/person has armor, what it's resistence is to stun or kinetic. For unarmored opponetsI would use a gaffi, for armored opponets I would use a nice stun baton, and pray it's not stun layered.
