Thread: Your Suggestions on New Weapons?

I know everyone is and has been upset with the fact our primary weapon is stick, so lets here some constructive suggestions on what you would like to see for a weapon.
Try to include more than just "A Rapier" as a reply, suggest how it should affect the Fencer and relate to other weapons. A list like this may just help our new correspondant out when we get one.

Somthing very long, very thin, and very fast. It also has to have enough damage to keep up with the freekin sythe, holy crap. It would also be nice to have some armor peircing but hey, beggers can't be choosers.

any kind of sword that does the same damage as a gaffi , or some thing like a thermal saber ( would do heat damage ) or a blast foil ( would do engery damage ) having diffrent damage types could help compensate for our lack of ap weapons

Defintly a heat type damage weapon maybe a swor with its own power generator or a weapon that is on par with pistols. Good Fwg5 can inflict like 500+ base damage and our highest weapon can barely touch 300 with a 35% damaghe slice and a pistols speed is also 1.0 at the higher levels

I agree and new dmg type is a must and it should look like a rapier or foile (SP?)
Maybe a Electro-sword, or Disruptor-blade for some acid damage.

What about a vibro-sword that does... i dunno maybe blast damage? would that make sense at all? it could be almost like a chain saw. I think if we had a heat sword it would be considered a lightsaber by most.

Well, I posted an idea of newer weapons back in the past a few months before the melee updates took effect. Anyhow, here are my two weapon designs an why they are as they are for what they can do.
VibroSaber
Armor pen2
speed 2.4 base (Crafter expermentation lowers.)
min 50 max 200 (crafter expermentation goes higher.)
Ham costs... Well upto devs I cant put a in a proper calculation
Kentic if not fueled.
Engery if fueled.
Fuel required: yes
Uses engery Cells, like droids or possible acutal engery you harvest. This way the weapon can server as two functions.

This weapon looks like a stun baton but slightly differnt in coloration.
Fencers need honestly a better choice for standard issue weapons for combat or even pvp. The vibrosaber has the option of switching between two differnt types of damage, although at a cost of using power or resorces to activate the ablity. The ablity would last much like a normal power up 100 uses thus the user would have to resupply the unit. This balances out the power of the weapon in terms of it not being over powered. The weapon would fuction as a armor pen 1 when not powered. But when powerd it acts as a armor pen 2 with engery damage. Thus it gives the wielder a bit more power although the weapon itself is slower then a stun or a vibro balde an uses slightly more ham then a vibrobalde. Vibroblades should be modified to this imo.. ^-^

I like that idea, however lets look at what you propose here. You couldn't have this be weapon that cry's for a nerf, so keep an open mind on what i suggest. Also lets assume they lower the speed cap for fencers and pistoleers.
Dmg- As its suggested here a min/max of 50/200 would yeild around a 230'ish average hit.
Speed- As proposed the weapon has a base of 2.6 which after we get even a +50 to our speed would be at 1.3 speed for us, not slow enough for the purpose of this blade.
I like the sword idea but what would you think about these changes?

speed7-7.5 base (At a +90 to speed this is still under the current 1 second speed cap)
min50/150 max 200 (The gap in Dmg should be lower unless powered, this would yeild a 325 average hit)
Ham costs (Changes with the power-up, it should take more focus to use when doing a special type of damage.)

SWORDS!!! Im tired of using a stick to kill things when I am a "blademaster" .. I want various types of swords, from katana, longsword, shortsword, rapier... There needs to be several options in Fencer for new certs for GOOD weapons, not just 1..

Right, everyone wants swords but the hard part is making them each differant. Would you really want 5 versons of the gaffi that are just animated differantly? Each of our weapons should be unique and not just the same thing with a new animation or model attached to it.
The post that Eva made was great, it gave 2 new weapons along with suggestions on stats for them. Thats what i'd honestly like to see more of here. If you want a Rapier then what kind of stats would you suggest it have? Also a longsword or katana would likely fall under 2handed i believe.

There are one handed styles for katana as well as some longswords (many do not have a 2handed grip) As for damage, some real options for armor piercing, maybe different damage types even (which may not fit well with swords to be honest) I wouldnt even care if they where all the same stats really, I just dont want to be forced to use a gaderiffi or stun baton for my entire career when neither one has anything to do with a "blademaster"

Fencers about fast an quick foot work an damage to. You have to remember that amping the speed to 7 or higher serves no purpose for a one handed weapon. Your making this fencing weapon to be as slow as a swordsmen or pikemans main weapon. While tka's get off with uber sain fast attack an accuracy. Yes the speed could be adjusted lets say around 2.6 to 3.2 that would even it out. But this weapon is only avible to a master fencer.
