Hey all, last night for the first time since launch I trained in Novice Fencer. I do not know much in this profession. I am not sure on the best special moves we have, although I can probably guess at a few (onhandedhit3, bodyhit3). I am a Teras Kasi Master, and was looking for a nice profession to go along with it. Teras Kasi's can only hit with kinetic damage, so I figured my next choice in the melee would be fencer. How would a TKM/Master Fencer/Master Brawler/ 4/0/0/0 Scout/ 1/0/0/0 Medic work out (this is the template I am contemplating right now). Or should I just pick up 1 or two trees in fencer and master pikeman/swordsman instead. Any help that you can offer about fencer (where to hunt, what to hunt, what moves to use etc...) would be greatly appreciated. Even help me out and give me some template opinions if you wish.

Well, being a TKM and Fencer is kind of loading up in the kinetic damage category, since that's what both deal. Fencer's also have stun, which is nice, but not AS nice since all of the Stun armor and PSGs have started coming out. Now anyone can have high stun resistance.

If you want to be kickass at both kinetic and something else, I'd go with Swords or Rifles. This advice is geared more towards solo adventuring, by the way. If you tend to stick with a group, and want to hold onto your status as a primary kinetic damage dealer, get both. You'll love bodyhit3 for the fencer, especially with a high-damage gaffi.

I'm sticking with fencer through thick and thin because I'm convinced (possibly naively) that the devs will make it good like it should be. Right now a LOT of high-powered enemies have high kinetic and stun resists, and that effectively removes our class from all kinds of exciting missions and adventures.

Dual-wielding is on the horizon (to be implemented after JTL), so maybe that will help, but we still don't have a powerful sword to wield. I can't stand using gaffi sticks, and yet I have to. I just want a stupid sword. How hard is that?

To make a long story short, if you want to be an offensive juggernaut, don't pick fencer. I guess the philosophy of the devs was that this is the "light and fast" class, the pistoleers of the melee classes, and a lot of people don't like that very much. I, on the other hand, have a great time with it.

Thanks, you answered my next question too, which would be "is this class fun". I am not mostly in it for being "uber", I just like fun classes. Fencers seem cool, though not amazingly strong. So if this is a fun class, I think I will give it a whirl, I also like the "swashbuckler" title....thats kickass. I also like the "foot soldier" title in pikeman, makes me think of teenage mutant ninja turtles.
