I just made a gaderiffi baton with one of the new-fangled advanced reinforcement cores. I'm a tech4 swordsmith. (so sorry, can't tell you what the master quality would be)

Damage 112-192, speed 4.2, HAM 62/38/20

this actually makes the gaffi stick act more like a 2H Cleaver than most of the 1H swords. For comparison, a curved sword w/ advanced sword core is 64-147, 2.6, 31/56/40

So, the dps on the gaffi stick is 36.1. on the curved sword it's 40.5

If youre melee speed is crazy high (like +80), then the gaffi stick will start looking better. Plus, since it attacks slower, the HAM costs would be lest if you were trying to spam specials.

One of my Vibro Blades is a 117-197 (damage slice) at 2.5 speed with something around 20/20/20 (don't know the exacts without logging).....The point is, no Gaffi stick will ever outdamage this....My Vibroblade is probably not the best around, but cheaper specials, more damage, and quicker....Yet somehow I can't kill white con animals, and NPC's with blasters HAHAHAHAHa I don't stand a chance anymore *sarcasm off*

Well compared to the vibroblades that *I* can make (similar materials, same skill), the gaffi and curved sword both do more damage. Unless armor becomes important or something.

And we're in agreement that the low ham costs of the vibro blade kicks a lot of ass.

It was made before the patch by a master on Scylla

With the way that speed mods are broken right now, speed isn't even an issue once you get up in the footwork tree. I'm a master fencer, and have +90 (+95 maybe? I forget) one handed speed. Under the current system, that gives me a 95% reduction in swing delay, with a lower cap of 1.0 speed.

So really, if your fencing skill is advanced enough, unless your weapon speed is above 5 or so, the effective swing speed will be the same, even when spamming specials.
