I'm nearly mastered...last box up and coming...I'll be certain to add to this post or others like it when the time comes. Wish me luck! It's been a difficult but challenging road.

Master Fencers,

Please share some of your experiences as you progressed. Your training stratagies, your favorite combination of specials, your favorite weapons (and who made them for ya!), and any other stories about being a "Fencer". I want to know what I am striving for. What makes being a master worth it? What did you learn on the way up?

I just think it would be inspiring to hear from those who have mastered this "forgotten" profression to share some tips and stories about how they smote something that should have been "unsmitable" by someone in our profession.

Hmm well I must admit this is a bit disheartening...

Does no one have a success story? Or even some training advice?

I just killed tuskans and then nyms pirates on lok till blademaster. It was fun... for a while. Dizzy and lunge all the way! A medic of some sort also helps. Have fun!

I am not a Master Fencer has yet but this is how I have acheived 1,2,3,2 in 4 weeks or so.

1) Learn Novice Medic at least. This allows you to at least use Stim B which will save you life on many occasions. I went to Master Medic and never regreted it once.

2) Get yourself a nice Ryyk Blade. Mine is somewhere around 90 - 220, 2.6, 40,50,40.

3) Solo for me was quite nice until my last upgrade. Now I am getting quite poor exp in the places I used to do OK.

4) Join a PA and go hunting with them. This is by far the best way to make decent exp.

I am going all the way to master Doctor and am having great fun playing my Fencer at the moment. Before I decided to goto Master Doctor, Fencing exp was all I cared about. Now it is secondary and Medic exp is more important.


I currently fight with a Master Brawer/Novice Pikeman as puller and Tank. We have gun and pet support. I assist the Pikeman when the mob is in close so I start hitting the mob. I then heal the Tank as and when required. I get nice Medic and Fencer exp doing this. If the Pikeman is low on mind, I jump in and get agro. This is working really well at the moment.

I have recollections of success. But since the patch the devs finally balanced us, making us as useless in PvP as PvE. I am almost embarrased to run around with Blademaster up.

I am 3-4-2-3 in the tree (or something like that)

First of all on my climb to mastering at least one of the trees, I used "NO" armor.

2nd while everyone was out hunting things like Tuskens that cleary out matched them; I hunted spice fiends, Thugs, and any other thing that was "AGGRO" to me. Blue is a good color especially if they spawn quickly (hint Mos Eisley on tattoonie near the "other" cantina that no one goes to)

You will find as I have, that when you attack something whether it be in a group situation or not; if it cons white and under to you WITHOUT a group..that your special moves will (i.e blind..dizzy..lounge )have a better chance of working.

PVP battlesWERE lovely as I would lounge dizzy my opponent and then work them over w/o having to spam the combo rep. PVE great...I can-could solo a yellow w/ Lounge dizzy and walk away from the fight.

Now for PVE w/ a yellow con I have to use my brain..I attack w/ blind then dizzy lounge (throw bleed anywhere in there) once the target is bleeding ..and if they fall from being dizzy-and I am low on energy I run backwards while healing myself.

I have also brought a pair of chitin bracers..just the bracers though-that I will equipp if my constitution is low or Im beeing attacked by multiple enemies.

no fencer should be w/o a pet or some healing skills early on.

PVP now post patch..we cant beat a Tera-Kasi toe to toe (ihad a very difficult timebeating a Monk lvl Terakasi)but again you have to use your brain. I fought w/ him in a Medical Center he dropped some heavy combos on me and I knew then and there that toe to toe was not an option; so I out smarted him..I blinded dizzy..bleeded him ,once I got up(his knock down worked)and ran to the elevator (yes they do work) while he was trying to figure away to get up stairs I healed some what and waited for him to appear. He beat me but soon after he dropped incapacitated..it was a friendly duel but you see what my point is.

Be familiar w/ your surroundings..know the little rooms around town in which you can duck into. Look at the opponents weapon and tag (Note: if some is wearing Novice always assume that they are not).

When in a group assume the role of the Blinder- bleeder dont waste your time doing a posture change because more than likely a TK or gunmen will use there ability to knock whatever it is down..thus you save your HAM a bit to do Dizzy,blind,bleed back off then when you feel its right go back in...dont worry you'll still get good exp and stay alive to get more.

My biggest problem even now is thinking that I can run in the middle of the room and wreck shop..I can to a degree but more times then none i'll end up looking at the cieling hoping that someone revives me before something (usually Tuskens) finish me off.

(Deep breath) I have more..but i'm tired of typing now, i'm sure you'll get other excellent tips as you progress..hope this helps somewhat!

O God how could I forget...If you dont remember anything i've said always intimidate 1st if you can!

Hell..even after battle has alreadybeen initiated..that too could save your or your groups life!

Hello my name is Maxamus and i was the first master fencer on any server in retail.( i like saying that part)

hmm lets see what stories do i have. hehe you like this, when i was about half way to master fencer ( i was already master brawler) i ran into a master tka. Istarted talking about how nice it is to be a fencerand how it can matchor beat anyother melee class.Being the cocky guy that most Tka's are he wanted to duel. so we stepped outside the bestine cantina and got ready. He put on his chitan armor and knucklers while i stood there with my sword drawn. Just then a sand storm rolled in.Heinitiated the duel, i hit my macro and it was over. Lunge2, dizzy, dizzy,lunge1, 1handed hit2 over and over agian. I get a tell " **edit**" .... he was very angry.

later on not long after master i fought a few differant melees, i think it was a novice fencer, 2 mid level TKAs, novice pole arm and a 2handed master one right after the other with out healing. I used a muon gold and a tat sunburn in the start and that was enough to allow for me to dominate. I think it was the fencer and the 2 tkas that i did not end duel with . they attacked me while i was meditating. droped to one before i finished standing, and the other 2 soon after. sadly the 75% nerf would come in a few weeks. now its very hard to beat more then one enemy at once... but it can be done

I remember hunting pikets with some friends and out damaging all but the TKAs. Along the way to master i have dueled many poeple from pretty much every class. I can tell you this the only person more powerfull then a master fencer is a Duel master in 2 melee professions. BH and commandos hit hard now but if you canclose the gap thier is little they can do to stop you.After i hit master i ran into a force sensitve npc, i poped a muon gold 2 tat sunburns and completly destroyed the poor npc. Thinking my self invicable i tried to fight everything from krayts and kimos to DJMs. i lasted longer then i should have lol but i didn't win.

Alot of poeple complian and say we have been nerfed but i don't see it maybe its becuase im already at master but i can take anyother master class if i get with in 6m of them. So don't let anyone discourge you from following the way to fencer. If your ever on eclipse look me up ,im usually around bestine some where, ill show you want i mean
