Thread: Fencer weapons of choice
I've just recently began working my way towards fencer, and am looking for a bit of advice. What weapons do fencers see as the "best" for every day use, and what do people carry around for special circumstances? I have a master weaponsmith I can go to, and am wondering what I should order.
Thanks much,

PVE: at novice, curved sword / vibroblade depending on what you are fighting and how many specials you want to spam
once you get footwork 2, get a speed sliced gaderiffi baton
once you get footwork 4, only use a damage sliced gaderiffi baton
PVP: damage sliced stun baton, always. A mind cost reduction powerup might help too.
Hi,
I would get myself a nice low HAM high damage vibroblade to go with high damage gaffi baton. You swap between them between fights to adjust for needs. For example, when I bleed, I swap to gaffi baton. (I was bleeding 500 with healthhit1) And, also when I am fighting mobs with less than 2k HAM, I spam specials with my gaffi. But then, I will need to use my vibroblade if I am fighting "Plains Hunter" on Naboo so it is Blind/Dizzy all the time.
I guess there is no "best for everyday use" blade. You should carry at least those two and a stun baton.

P.S. Just made Master Footwork yesterday! I swing my 3.9 gaffi baton like a vibroblade at Expert Footwork. I swing my vibroblade so fast I have troubles keeping up with special buttons.
And I would argue that the gaderiffi baton is even better because it front-loads damage well. As you xp early on, you will find that you are one-shotting a lot of newbie creatures. A gaderiffi is going to one-shot a lot more often then a 1h curved. When you one-shot you arguably have an effective 0 delay in many situations. The second you attack you can move on to the next guy. In a lot of cases just moving to that target will take more time than another attack would anyway.
In some situations arguably the lower speed is better simply because you will overshoot damage less often. That is you have less chance of wasting 500 damage when you hit something with 100 health left for 600.
The first case is much more common for how I fight. That in addition to the nearly equal dps leads me to recommend that you use a gaderiffi for your entire career unless you wish to utilize the lower HAM costs or higher armor piercing of the vibroblade.
And of course, it may depend on the quality of weapons be offered by your local weaponsmiths.

I use a combination of weapons depending on the situation. The vibroblade is fast and low in HAM cost - thus it is great for spamming off a lunge-dizzy-blind-bleed combination - for starters - for the two-legged type critters. Then I normally switch to my secondary weapon - the stun baton for armored individuals or mobs and the gaffti stick for larger critters - all these are sliced for damage - I rely on my own speed and I have migrated up my quickness stats at the expense of overall mind.... (not a problem unless you spam specials endlessly with the stun baton). Sadly I find myself using the "true swords" less and less - I have a curved, but tend to rely on the stun baton before it - and I used to have a sexy lookin Ryyk Blade..... this is one area that could be improved in our profession - we need some sexy looking - "effective" swords that are comparable to the non-sword one-handed weapons.... All in all we have a fantastic profession - it is satisfying to experience the dismay of a gun-totter when you take down a fambaa without pet assistance and while face-to-face with the beast, whilst only getting 9.9999/10ths of the crap kicked out of you - and less than half-way up the fencer tree. hehe, now thats real fight'n!!

Both posts answered your question quite well. I used a curved sword until footwork IV though.
I use a sliced ryyk 95-220 2.4 speed 50% wound sliced on any combat, and then for armor pvp i use a stun baton 120-200 2.5 speed. I am 30k from Master Footwork and have tons of fun. I can take almost anyone in a duel and have a list of people with high professions that I have won against.
