Thread: Melee Weapon enhancements are crap.

This may change with the new Genosian sword cores (which btw willNOT workin Gads, which use a reinforcement core), but we still fall far behind ranged when it comes to things like krayt tissues and other looted parts like power blaster handlers.
Rancor teeth are a joke. They not only lead to HUGE ham increases, they also INCREASE the speed of the weapon. Bleh.

Fury - hopefully you can do something about bringing our enhancements (weapons in general actually) up to par- with the new changes in Combatwe are going tosee a huge change in our effectiveness..

i agree partially. Melee is more powerful in general..i mean ive played swordsman, fencer, tka (only brawler pikes). and they get more defenses, toughness, status defenses..etc etc. because just about any rifleman would be dead if some other melee got up close to him, that is why ranged powerups and ranged weapons in general get that advantage..for balance issues.
i really dont even need to powerup my melee weapons, i chew up any piket just fine without powerups, hell i can fight unarmed (no weapon) and kick ass.
the best melee powerup ive seen was 32% less mind cost, 15% more max dmg. i bought a few crates you can bet

....a rifleman can take me out in one shot....this isn't with a kryat weapon either
a carbineer/bh maybe 2 shots
a pistoleer/bh maybe 2-4 shots
not fair and balanced as you would think

question...are you wearing armor? what kind? composite? ubese? what type of resists?
and how often are you buffed?
ive never had a problem with rifleman, because LOS is a problem for them, you can use buildings or even trees to your advantage. wear a composite helmet in the LEAST, with 80-90% resists and a stun layer if you can...no price is too big to protect your noggin
im also always buffed since my alt is a doctor, so call me spoiled if you will

er i just noticed my mistake, sorry just woke up
as far as melee weapon ENHANCEMENTS and not POWERUPS...thats agreeable, but again its a matter of balancing, if you had guys running around with krayt rancor toothed vibroknucklers, how would that be? its fair considering how easily a rifleman drops when he gets within 20m of a melee

Um... I don't think so. My weaponsmith makes rifles with higher damage than any of our weapons. Sliced for speed in a Master's hand, the DPS is greater than us, with less HAM.

This is absolutely correct. I've never seen any melee one hit a DB.
It happens more than once in awhilewith ranged - due to their ability to target mind.
And you shouldn't have to wear armor to prevent this. (If melee aren't capable of doing it as well).

Ok i have to agree with the statement that melee weapons need some sort of power up and its not a balance issue they can run away from us and we really cant do much unless we get within 20m of one of the range players thats sussposed to be there advantage.
I used to be a rifleman really really early in the game after i had master fencer and it was pretty easy to 1hit incap people did it frequently. As i fencer i have 1hit incaped someone twice once with a gaff and once with a stun baton. They were both very lucky 1handed hit 3 for mind damage.

When I have a pup on my gaffi I one-hit incap people who dont have armor, buffs, or melee mitigation easily.

The geonosians also drop Geonosian reinforced cores, both as drops and as normal drops and as schematics. I'm having a MWS (an alt of STGabriel the HS correspondent) make some Gaffs for me using powercubes I had looted, but he has been recovering from the flu so has not had a chance to make them yet. Also I have heard but not yet been able to confirm that the Acklay in the Geo base can drop 'Acklay bone' that is a melee weapon enhancement.
