Fencer Archive
Thread: I posted this on main discussion... as well.
Melee still seems to have issues I'm trying to verify them which evoked a couple of thoughts.
1) Why am I having to spend my game time trying to test to see if they are
2) We know so little on how things are suppose to behave it makes it difficult to tell.
3) was some other intended effect not posted.
I'm near master 2 handed sword with some fencer skills. (2 block for most lines)
My observations even WITH armor working I'm taking more dmg than i use to and basically finding a much harder time evern against mobs that I don't get exp for.
My experiences are with mostly light/dark blue mobs a couple of white...
It seems I am missing much more now, Is this intended? I have +80 accuracy and Im' using a cleaver -8 to accuracy.
Toughness doesn't seem to do anything, I 've tested this a bit and can't find any noticable trend in the dmg. My toughness is currently at 30. WHAT IS TOUGHNESS SUPPOSE TO DO? how do we know it is working, I only get 2 numbers hit for xx dmg, armor absorbs yy dmg.
I'm really frustrated here, as I'm not sure if it is an issue, mobs are somehow tougher, etc. but with no feedback from Holo, and uncertainty what was changed intentionaly, etc . I'm at a loss here.
Could you please acknowledge what changes were suppose to go into for melee classes? How is toughness suppose to work. Is it broken etc..
Thanks, I'm nearing the end of my patience in all this
I'll answer what I can, but to be honest you might get more of what you are wanting to hear on the Swordsman Profession Forum since you are primarily a 2handed weapon user.

We all feel compelled to perform at least some level of testing after a patch, esp one this large. It's the nature of MMOGs.
2) We know so little on how things are suppose to behave it makes it difficult to tell.
This is why we do #1... to test things out to see how they work. Some of the time we manage to figure it out, and other times we have to settle with the best-sounding theory.

That is something you would have to ask the Devs; however, they do tend to be tight-lipped regarding certain details. Good luck!

There are mobs you don't get exp for? I'm a master and still get exp for chubas... granted, only 1point. I'm not certain I'm understanding what you are suggesting... chubas (and the like) are giving you problems, or are you exagerating for effect? There do seem to be alot ofbugs with this patch, and you may have gotten caught up in some of them. Without a little more specific data, I don't know what to recommend other than looking over all of you inventory and stats to make sure everything looks right.
My experiences are with mostly light/dark blue mobs a couple of white...
Ah, these are not chubas then.
All I can say is that the con system is unreliable. I can take out certain reds without a thought, and some blues can wipe the floor with me if I'm not careful. In the uncertain times after a patch, try and stick to familiar territory until you know how things are working for you.

This would best be answered in the Swordsman forum. However, do you have logs for you accuracy on the same mobs prior to the patch to use for a comparison? You could just be in a funk... it happens. Esp after a patch we all tend to be a bit paranoid and "detect" changes that aren't really there. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask around if others in your profession are finding the same change.

Toughness is a percentile modifier to melee damage done to you. If you have 30 toughness then hits you receive are modified down by 30% in damage as long as you have the weapon equipped that gives you that 30 toughness. To see the change, let a mob hit you for a few hits with no weapon equipped, then suddenly equip your weapon and you will see the damage drop. It is working properly from all indications.

Reports are coming in from all directions that certain mobs were beefed up on this last patch. If this was intentional or a bug has yet to be revealed.

All I can tell you is what was mentioned in the patch. Beyond that we are all still testing to discover more.

I realize that that con isn't a reliable and I probably wasn't clear. My point was I'm having more trouble with pretty much ever mob (even after the armor fix). Was looking for answers.
I can see that they might beef up some of the mobs, but pretty much everything I'm fighting is much tougher. I suppose it could be the paranoia of the after patch issues, but really, I haven't changed my fighting style. In fact on thing that alerted me to the problem is there were many times as I advanced as swordsman I would fight without armor to save on HAM costs, the foes I used to do that with eat me up now.
I've read that AR might be messed up with affects swordsman more than fencer. Just looking for some answers. I will test the toughness but I need to find a staff as I 'm working on the fencer tree and have unarmed IV, working to novice.
I figured if melee was made more difficult you all would be feeling it as much or more ![]()
I'll do some tests and see.
Let ya know what I find
