Hi there!
After a series of rather embarrassing encounters against melee professions using my ex-BH Carbineer/Master Carb. template, I thought I'd give Fencer a shot. It's always a profession that I wanted to pick up, but melee in general was something that I never saw myself doing, until now.
I'm currently working on the following template: Master Carbineer, Master Fencer, 4004 TKA. I know, I know, I'd be better off with Rifleman, or even 0040 Medic - but I dislike FOTM templates, and to be honest, I simply love Carbineer.
I'm looking for general PvP advice for those that have a similar template. I've read just about every FAQ thread on this forum I could find, and have a pretty good idea of what to do in a PvP situation, but I lack 2 things: experience (which only I can really develop) and tips from those who have a similar template as the one proposed.
I'm used to kiting opponents, having been mainly a Pistoleer and Carbineer, but that's about to change once I can wield a nice little black baton. Anyone have any pointers? Specifically, I'm looking for answers to some of these questions (PvP-centric, only):
a) Having a similar 'balanced' template, at what range do you drop the gun and move in for the baton kill? Actually, at what max range does 'Lunge' start to work?
b)Do you prefer to state-inflict a target using Carbineer at a distance and then move in for the melee kill? Does your choice depend on your opponent (well, naturally it does, but any advice would be great) ?
c) What Carbineer/Fencer - specific tactics do you use? IE, any set combination of ScatterShot/Scatterhit or FullAuto/ChargeShot/Lunge/KD?
d) What about Warcry/Intimidate? Where do you fit these in when holding a ranged weapon or switching to 'Fencer Mode'?
e) Do you ever use Unarmed Skills? Or only Powerboost/Meditate when required?
Again, these questions are specifically tailored to those who have a Master (Ranged)/Master Fencer/TKA 4004 or similar template. It's probably one of the weaker damage-output ones, but I find it to be well-balanced. That and the fact that I've gota rather sweet collection of Krayt Carbines that I'm dying to use (since BH Carbineer made krayt weapons useless due to the speed cap.)
Thanks! I appreciate it! I still have most of Fencer and TKA to do - and I might switch the template around, but I think its both great for PvE tanking and generally well-balanced for PvP. I look forward to using Scatter Shiak on some of my friends.. after all, I'd just be giving them a taste of their own medicine!

i was master carb master fencer 0003 tkm 0040 pistoleer
wasnt bad but carb is a waste really. if u want a ranged to go with fencer id suggest pistoleer, it will boost ur dodge plus ur defences vs kd,dizy etc will be huge

oh and for some fighting tactics
get a cob macro up and going, if they come close fencer, go for dizzy/lunge if the lunge isnt working try carb kd's
once he's down if he has a melee weapon out use the carb, a ranged weapon out use a melee weapon.
this varies depending on your opponent and their armour
stun with carbineer is handy because it reduces their defences
intim is useful reduces the dmg they do
havent used warcry once
