A lot of Fencers go 4/0/0/0 or 4/0/0/4 with TKA, the mediation line for the bleeds, poisions and wounds, you also get power boost, and I've heard that Defensive Acuity does improve all your defensive mods, (for Fencer it would be dodge).
All your mods will stack but the cap is 125 for everything defensive, I believe.
The differences between Fencer & Swordsman is easy:
Fencer: Tons of defense, which makes Fencer an awsome tank, good for group PvE, but damage output is low.
Swordsman: Damage dealing, and mind bleeds, and mind hits. Some Swordsmans add Rifleman for the mind hits, eitherway they're gonna lose their mind upclose or far away.
This is PvE of course.
As for PvP, most people choose Fencer for their melee profession, because of Dizzy + Lunge1(or lunge2 if you master brawler) and the tons of dodge/defense, and the fact Fencers, unlike TKA (unless you get those heat knuckles) can do two types of damage, kinetic and stun, while TKAs do only kenetic. Even though every hardcore PvPer has stun resist composite, its still an extra thing your opponent has to worry about.
